Weekly Waffle #67

There was no game night on Tuesday but me and Al did manage to finish off our Guild Ball on Sunday with the Butchers running out winners with a score of 12 to 8. It was a really fun game and showed that we really need the practice before we turn up Vengeance next month. I think that Al suffered from using the Union or at least his selection of players that didn’t seem to work well as a team. Whilst I opted to go with the Butchers to try and keep things simple. Al get the first goal early on but I wasn’t too worried about this with my aim being to try and take down a few of his players first. By the end of the game I’d taken down four of his players with only one of mine going down. That set me up for the Ox to score the winning goal. So only two goals in the game and it was closer than the score reflected.

With that first game under our belts we are playing again this afternoon but we are going to try and speed things up a bit and try and get into the flow of the game a bit more. You’ll have to come back next week for an update but if remember I will try and get some pictures for a mini match review.

On the hobby front I’ve had a few things on the go this week and I don’t think any of there were what I thought they would be. To start with I’ve been working on this armoured suit model. I can’t remember where I picked it up or what its actually called it was just something I liked the look of and I’ve been using it as another test piece. Again the base colours were all done with air brush and I’m beginning to think that I may have a bit of a green thing going on. I’m quite happy with how it’s progressing but ironically I think at this stage I’m more impressed with the how the base is turning out that I am with the model itself.

Now at this point I had planned to have a bit more Guild Ball or a bit of Batman for you but I had the surprise of a Kick-starter turning up this week. I am now the proud owner of a new Wild West Exodus faction in the form of the Confederates. I’ve been spending my time cleaning them up and putting a few of them together to try and get a feel for how they look and how I’m going to paint them. Whilst I was at Adepticon I picked up a WWX art book that has some really nice colour plates in there and I’m going to use these as a guide. But I also want to go with something of forest theme for the bases so I’m going to try and match the camouflage colours I use with the scatter I’m thinking of using on the bases. I’m not sure how that will actually work but it’s a starting point so I’ll just have to give it a go and tweak things as I go.

That’s it for this week. As I mentioned earlier me and Al have a game afternoon planned for today so I’m going to see if I can set the camera up to get some in game shots to do a bit of match report. But I need to make sure it doesn’t slow the game down because one of the key things we want to get out of today’s game is to speed up our play. So I don’t want then slow things down by spending ages taking pictures, but we’ll see how it goes.
