Guild Ball – Mist Painting Guide

This is a painting guide for the new model for Mist that I picked up through the Locker Room as it had only previously been available as a prize at some Steam Forge events. For me the sculpt is really evocative and much more menacing than the previous version. With that in mind I wanted to move away from the mainly purple that I used on the original version and go with something a bit more natural. But I still wanted to keep some purple in there as that is the Union’s colour, or at least it is for me.     I started off using the airbrush with Vallejo Black…

  • Weekly Waffle #67

There was no game night on Tuesday for this week’s weekly waffle but me and Al did manage to finish off our Guild Ball on Sunday with the Butchers running out winners with a score of 12 to 8. It was a really fun game and showed that we really need the practice before we turn up Vengeance next month. I think that Al suffered from using the Union or at least his selection of players that didn’t seem to work well as a team. Whilst I opted to go with the Butchers to try and keep things simple. Al get the first goal early on but I wasn’t too…

  • Weekly Waffle #36

This week’s weekly waffle has continued the roller coaster of hobby ups and downs. At work on Tuesday morning to be told that I need to go to Newcastle for three days, nothing wrong with that but it puts a dent in my painting time. Not to mention that I would mean I would miss out on gaming night and a game of X-wing I had arranged with Pete. Well it keeps the bank manager at bay and at least I didn’t lose. But even though I’ve spent some time away I have managed to get some hobby time in although it has been very eclectic. First up I was…

  • Weekly Waffle #35

Well for this week’s weekly waffle I’ve got something of bumper edition with all the pictures I have for you. Not all my own work but I’ll get to that later. First off we had our first gaming night for a few weeks this week and got absolutely no gaming done. We just sat round drinking cups of tea and talking about the abundance of different games out there and what we were interested in. A couple of interesting things came out of this. The first was Al talking about Frostgrave which is something I’ve had an interest in so we may be looking at this in the not to…

So what I have I been up to for this week’s weekly waffle, the simple answer to that is not a lot, but I do have a few updates for you. I know that sounds a bit nonsensical but I’ve had a week off work so I’ve had loads of time on my hands, but rather that try and get loads of things done I’ve just been lazy. Well not totally lazy but I’ve only sat down to paint when I’ve been in the mood. The result of that has been that what time I have spent painting has been quite productive. Just goes to show you can get more…

  • Weekly Waffle #33

Not a great deal to update you on this week’s weekly waffle so I’m going to cheat and add in lots of pictures. No game club again this week so no gaming to update you and I haven’t been able to get any work done on the brewers this week. As I mentioned last week I’ve got something of a gammy eye and have had to have an eye patch on for most of week. This has had two very distinct effects. On is that it’s made me look I’m making a really poor attempt to be a pirate and the other that with one eye you have no depth…

    Weekly Waffle #29

Gaming for this week’s weekly waffle actually started on Sunday morning with a five way game of X-Wing. Apparently I must have done something wrong because I had to start in the middle of the table with everyone gunning for me. It was a fifty point game so I went with a YT-2400, there were three Fire Sprays and one Decimator. My tactic was to stay out of the way and let the others beat themselves up, then sweep in for the kill, and for a change it worked. Claimed the glory, if the not work, for taking out three of the four. Well you it’s not right to kill…
