    Weekly Waffle #114

Lots of travel again for me for this weeks weekly waffle so no game night for me but I did try get some of my none gamer colleagues to try a new game but this one was a bit of a fail. I have Rory’s game cubes on my phone so I tried to get them to have a go but they weren’t that interested. They liked the idea so I may have to pick up some actual cubes and give it a go again. Whilst the app is really nice there is something just a bit more engaging about having the dice rolling on a table where everyone can…

    Weekly Waffle #113

For game night this week read game day and whilst it was technically last week following the update I’m still using it for this weekly waffle. Plus it takes me into the new world of computer gaming as opposed table top gaming, although it did put my beer on a table so as far as I’m concerned that counts. Things didn’t quite go to plan however as the originally we were going to try out the multi-crew function in the new Elite Dangerous Beta. But as often happens with these things when the Beta came out the multi-crew didn’t work. So instead I spent an afternoon in VR learning to…

    Weekly Waffle #112

No game night this week and I haven’t even managed to get a game of Chupacabra in for the weekly waffle, with all the traveling I’ve been doing. Considering the UK is not a large country I’ve certainly spent my far share how hours behind the wheel this week. Driving backwards and forwards, on a nearly daily basis, between the North West and the north east. Like I say the distances are vast but it eats up a lot of time. The only thing that has kept me sane has been my iPod on shuffle reminding me that I have what I am going to call a very eclectic taste…

It’s been another one of those crazy weeks for the weekly waffle were it feels like the world has been conspiring against me. No normal game night this week because I’ve been working away all week but I did manage to get a bit of gaming in. I introduced some of the people I work with to Chupacabra in the pub. Now I have to say that they were all a bit dubious to start with but it only a single game to get them hooked. It wasn’t long before people were walking past our table to get a look at what we were doing. So that’s at least half…

    Weekly Waffle #110

So for this week’s weekly waffle I thought the stars would align and I would get loads of work done with me not having any travel at all, but that didn’t turn out to be the case. I had loads of time but for the first time in quite a while I just didn’t have any mojo so as I result is spent most of time this week watching re-runs of Farscape and Atlantis. Now that’s not a bad thing but it’s not good if you want to crack on with a project. Keeping with the theme of things not going to plan there was no game night this week…

    Weekly Waffle #109

So no travel it interrupt this weeks weekly waffle which is a nice change, although there was no game night this week because Al was working. I just can’t seem to win at the moment. But it has given me a bit more time to put this week’s waffle together and whilst I’ve not managed to get a great deal of painting done there have been a few things that have caught my eye this week. I’ve been really intrigued by some of the wording that came along with the latest 40k releases. Specifically those that go along with the images of Cypher. Now I have to say that I’m…

    Weekly Waffle #108

So for this weeks weekly waffle I’ve found myself in something akin to the gaming doldrums, that’s not because I’ve lost my mojo, far from it, it’s just that work has once again go in the way. So no game night for me this week being stuck in a hotel in sunny Sunderland. I did plan to try and get some hobby in by taking some minis with me to clean up and build so that I can get some painting done this weekend. But I didn’t manage to get as much done as I would have liked. I spent most of my evenings, not in the bar but having…

Game night for this week’s weekly waffle saw us get a couple more rounds Dystopian Wars in. With hindsight going for a four way game as our introduction to Fleet Actions may not have been the best idea but it is generating some interesting game play. Al’s Britianian fleet has been picking on Dan’s Black Wolf fleet with some devastating ramming action. I lost my first ship to fire from Dan’s Manticore and Pete has continued to harass Al’s dreadnaught that has now taken seven points of damage (out of ten). But we also learned that the Brits have a special rule where they can repair damage at the end…

Game night for this weeks weekly waffle saw us continuing with our four way Dystopian Wars battle and I’m happy to report that the mighty Russians are still in the battle. Although one of Gun Ships has taken a points worth of damage. Everyone else has lost a least a couple of ships but to be honest they only reason I haven’t lost more is that I can’t get into range. The battle moved away from me right at the start and I have been playing catch up ever since. That is good in one way because I have received the least attention and as such the least damage. On…

    Weekly Waffle #91

No game night this week for the weekly waffle with Al having to earn some pennies to keep the bank manager at bay. But we have decided that October is going to be Dystopian Wars month with games planned for the rest of the month so I need to get a look at the new Fleet Action rules before next week to work out what I need. Not that it really matter because my Russians are going to rule the wave, he says with mock bravado. On the hobby front I’ve been working on something of an eclectic mix with a bit of Malifaux, some Relics and some wall building…
