  • Weekly Waffle #286

It’s been something of a weird week so far and whilst I have quite a full update for you I haven’t done any painting at all. That’s not to say I haven’t managed to get in a reasonable amount of hobby time, just that none of it has involved a paint brush. But it has involved quite a lot of prep work so that I should be able to start on some painting next week. I could have broken things down a little and done less prep but got started with some painting but I just felt that it would be better in the long run if I did all…

I’ve mixed things up again for this weeks weekly waffle by shifting back to Dystopian Wars, although I still haven’t managed to the game with Pete finished. I know I’m just delaying the inevitable but I’ve been full a cold this week and feeling sorry for myself so I’ve not ventured out of the house, other than having to go to work. Spent my evening nursing a cup of tea and waiting for my head to explode. But whilst I haven’t got any gaming done I have made some progress with my Empire of the Rising Sun Fleet. The carrier is nearly complete, just some of the details left to…

    Weekly Waffle #122

I haven’t been able to get as much done for this week’s weekly waffle as I did last week but I’m still really happy with what I’ve achieved. No gaming due to Al being on his jollies and me working in Walsall. Looks like I get all the exotic locations. Anyway after getting quite a bit done on the fisher men last week I’ve kept the nautical them but switched scales. After showing you the new Pakhtusov Battleship last week I couldn’t resist making a start on it with a new colour scheme. My take on this is that it’s part of the Russian Coalition Northern Fleet which explains why…

  • Weekly Waffle #121

This week’s weekly waffle saw a return to my nomadic life style so no chance to get any gaming in but having said that it’s been a reasonably productive hobby week and the post man has delivered a few surprises. It’s always nice when you pre-order something and then forget all about it until it turns up on your door step. So first up this week are the images that I couldn’t get uploaded last week, technical issues now resolve. As I mentioned last week I had ordered the first of the modular ships for my Dystopian Wars Russian Coalition force but hadn’t really paid any attention to the fact…

  • Weekly Waffle #98

For this week’s weekly waffle there was no game night again so a chance to make a start on a new project, or really an extension of what I’ve already been working. I’ve really enjoyed painting up the Deathwatch Kill Team so I decided to carry on and picked up the Deathwatch Cassius Kill Team. I’ve liked these models since the boxed game came out so being able to pick them up as a set of models without the game is great business idea for GW. And this got me thinking about something GW said earlier this year that didn’t really make sense to me at the time. They said…

Game night for this weeks weekly waffle saw the start of what we are planning to be a month of Dystopian Wars with us starting a four way game of fleet action. To be honest it got off to a bit of slow start because I hadn’t written a list so the first part of the evening was spent with me writing up a Russian and a Black Wolf list. The reason for the two lists was so that Dan who hasn’t played Dystopian Wars before could have a choice of fleets, with me using whichever one he didn’t want to use. We settled on 850 points for the simple…

  • Weekly Waffle #78

So I thought for this weeks weekly waffle I would have a truly British introspective on a subject that is really close to our hearts and how it impacts on our hobby. Yes you guessed it, it’s the weather. Over the last couple of weeks we have had some decidedly un-summer like weather and I think this has had a big impact on my motivation to paint. It’s frankly been a little bit depressing. So I’ve been sitting down to get some painting done, in this case an Italian fleet from sunny Italy whilst it’s cold and rainy outside. And I’ve ended up just sitting there thinking that I just…

    Dystopian Wars – Russian Coalition

The Russian Coalition is one of the greatest powers on earth. Its ruler commands the people, wealth and resources of over a sixth of the world’s entire landmass. And yet, still it is not enough for him. Within the game the Russian Coalition are like street brawlers and work best when they get up close and personal. They have relatively short ranged weapons, although they are devastating when you do get them into range. And to help you close on the enemy they have some of the heaviest armour in the game. Here we have the undisputed king of the Russian Fleet, a Moskva Class Dreadnought. In battle the mighty…
