Weekly Waffle #263

Once again I’ve missed a few updates but I’ve got lots of things going on in the real world that have simply eaten up all of my time. Please feel free to skip this bit if you just want a hobby update but I’m going to use this as bit of therapy for me. She was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia a couple of years ago but at the time the impact was just forgetting where she had left things. But over the last six month things have taken a turn for worse ending up with here having to go into hospital. This was scary because of the ongoing pandemic the last place you want a loved one to be is in hospital, but it was where she needed to be. But of course you can’t visit which just adds to the uncertainty of the situation. She has now been released from hospital but has to spend some time in a care home to be assessed to see if she will be safe to go home at some point.

In the mean time I’ve been looking after her cat and boy is she a handful. Thankfully she isn’t interested in any of my minis but she is a real princess who has a habit of waking me up at about 03:00 each morning. I’m hoping she will get the message that I’m not interested before I have to start locking her out of my room but I’ll give it another week or so for her to settle down. Any way that is my therapy over and I have to say taking a few minutes to put those feeling down in writing has been a big weight off my shoulders.

On the hobby front progress has been slow but have dabbled with a few things that I thought were worth sharing with one. As I’ve mentioned before I’m looking to be build two additional trukks, simply because I have the parts to build them. Because I’m going with the same basic design for all of them it’s really going to be the engines that are different so this is the third engine that is just about finished. Once again it has my version of turbo, which is nearly as big as the engine, along with nitrous and will site in-between the cab and the load bed. Still needs a little bit work the finish off the air intake into the engine but other than that I think it’s ready to go.

The other bit of work I’ve done is trying to get the parts together to build roofs for that will go over the trukk beds. These are fiddley but not complicated to make. But they are boring which is why all I have so far are some bits of plasticard that have been cut into shape and distressed. Well I’ve started to distress them Once they are finished they will fit onto the Truckk with magnets just like on the original trukk. The idea would be to use them as normal open topped trukks in game have the option to actually take the tops off if someone wanted them to be proper WYSIWYG.

That’s it for this week. Over the next couple of month you may see a few more gaps in the schedule whilst I deal with things away from the hobby but I’ll be consistent as I can. I really do want to get these things finished and you never know with the launch of 9th edition I may even get back into playing and not just building. But I’m not going to get to carried away on that front just yet. Hope you all have a good weekend, stay safe and I’ll catch you all again soon.
