Weekly Waffle #405 –  The Grinning Executioner

Weekly Waffle #405 –  The Grinning Executioner

13th December 2025

For this week’s weekly waffle I have continued to work on the Morticians and I have also started to try and organise some of my project ideas into something that I can share with you. At the moment it’s just a collection of notes and pictures but I’m starting to get it into something that could be a nice update. It’s been interesting just how much I’ve been able to do on my phone whilst I’m on the train.

My hobby time has been spent working on Bonesaw which is one of my favourite Mortician miniatures. It just has so much energy. A single figure on a nice big base running at you with this bone saws in hand. Painting him has been fun and has really kept the mojo flowing for me. I’m not sure it shows on the pictures but I like how the skin tones have worked. Coupled with the selective bits of purple to add the pop and this is one of my favourite models to date.

But what do you guys think?

When we start to look at the grim world of Guild Ball, where every match feels like a battle of wits and wills, there exists a figure who embodies the dark humour and brutal efficiency of the Morticians: Bonesaw. Imagine a player who thrives on chaos, wielding his cleaver with a grin that could chill the blood of even the fiercest opponents. Bonesaw is not just a character; he’s a metaphor for the Morticians’ philosophy, a blend of macabre joy and ruthless ambition.

Let’s dive into the lore of Bonesaw, the man who is as much a part of the Morticians’ identity as their shadowy captain, Obulus. In the official fluff, Bonesaw isn’t merely a player who enjoys a good brawl; he’s a harbinger of doom for anyone who dares step onto the pitch against the Morticians. His backstory is steeped in the dark arts, a testament to the guild’s embrace of death and decay. Raised in the taverns and back alleys of the city, Bonesaw learned early on that life is a game, and he intends to play it to the fullest, often at the expense of others.

But Bonesaw isn’t just a one dimensional character. He represents the Morticians’ unique blend of strategy and savagery. While other players might focus on teamwork or finesse, Bonesaw revels in the chaos of the game, turning every opportunity into a chance for mayhem. His role on the pitch is that of a bruiser, a relentless force who thrives on the thrill of the fight. While Obulus pulls the strings behind the scenes, Bonesaw is the one who gets his hands dirty, delivering the Morticians’ brand of justice with a manic glee that leaves opponents reeling.

So, what does Bonesaw bring to the table, both literally and figuratively? In one word: carnage. He’s not there to play nice; he’s there to take names and leave a trail of shredded opponents in his wake.

When you line up against Bonesaw, you need to prepare for a player who’s as unpredictable as he is dangerous. He embodies the Morticians’ ethos of using fear as a weapon, and his skills reflect this philosophy. His abilities allow him to dance around the pitch, striking when least expected and leaving chaos in his wake.

Let’s break down his in game role, shall we? Bonesaw is a master of disruption. His abilities are designed to keep opponents on their toes, punishing any misstep with swift, brutal efficiency. This ability is where Bonesaw truly shines. It’s not just about dealing damage; it’s about instilling fear. Opponents know that if they leave their players out of position, Bonesaw will capitalise on it. He’s a predator lurking in the shadows, ready to pounce on any opportunity to slice through defense’s and create chaos.

Bonesaw’s agility allows him to manoeuvre around the pitch with surprising ease. He’s not just a brute; he’s a tactical thinker who knows how to exploit weaknesses. Whether it’s slipping past a defender or creating space for a teammate, he’s always a step ahead, turning the tide of the game in favour of the Morticians. While many players focus on scoring goals, Bonesaw thrives on disruption. His ability to generate momentum through his brutal plays tyle means that he can keep the pressure on his opponents, forcing them to react rather than act. This not only keeps the Morticians in control but also creates openings for goal-scoring opportunities.

Bonesaw’s game plan is deceptively simple yet incredibly effective. Every move he makes is aimed at breaking down the opponent’s strategy. He thrives on creating chaos, making it difficult for enemies to execute their plans while simultaneously setting up his own team for success. Leave a player out of position? Bonesaw will make you regret it. He’s relentless in his pursuit of opponents who underestimate his reach, and this often leads to swift retribution. He doesn’t wait for the game to come to him; he takes the initiative. By forcing opponents to react to his aggressive play style, he creates openings that can lead to scoring opportunities for the Morticians.

Playing as Bonesaw requires a mindset that embraces chaos. You can’t rely on traditional strategies, you have to be willing to take risks and capitalise on the mistakes of your opponents. He’s not a straightforward player, and that’s what makes him so much fun to pilot. For those who enjoy the thrill of the hunt, Bonesaw is your man.

Now, let’s be real for a second. Facing Bonesaw can be a nightmare. He embodies the Morticians’ philosophy of fear and disruption, and he does it with a sinister flair that can leave you feeling like you’ve been played for a fool. He punishes players who make even the smallest errors, and that can be incredibly frustrating. If you’re not careful, a single misstep can lead to a swift and brutal demise at the hands of this grinning executioner.

But therein lies the beauty of Bonesaw. He’s a reminder that Guild Ball isn’t just about strategy, it’s about embracing the chaos of competition. His presence on the pitch serves as a lesson that, while you may have a plan, it’s always subject to the whims of fate and the bloody cleaver of Bonesaw.

In the grand tapestry of the Morticians, Bonesaw stands out as a character who embodies the guild’s darker side. He’s not just a bruiser; he’s a theatrical performer who revels in the chaos of the game. Every time he steps onto the pitch, he brings with him a sense of impending doom for his opponents, a reminder that in the world of Guild Ball, nothing is ever guaranteed.

To sum it up, Bonesaw is the perfect encapsulation of the Morticians’ ethos: chaotic, sinister, and always ready to strike. He’s not the most straightforward player, nor does he play by the rules of the game. Instead, he thrives on disruption and revels in the thrill of the chase, turning every match into a deadly dance of strategy and savagery.

So, the next time you line up against Bonesaw, remember: you’re not just facing a player; you’re facing a whirlwind of chaos and carnage. And in the world of Guild Ball, that’s a lesson you won’t soon forget. Prepare for a game where every mistake could lead to a cleaver slicing through your plans and where Bonesaw is always ready to laugh as he watches the chaos unfold.

That’s all I have for you this week. I’ll be back again same time, same place next week with more updates for you. I’ve not finalised my plans yet but that may be the last update for this year whilst I have a bit of break over Christmas. Or I may get one more update in, but I will let you know next week. Until next time I hope you have grate week.
