Weekly Waffle #302
15th October 2022
This week in the painting world I’ve been carrying on with what I am now realising is something of an obsession with Carevale. What started out as picking up a starter box has morphed into three boxes and I think four blisters. But what we have here represents everything I have at the moment. I’ve been sticking with the same approach of using my new found slap chop method to get them table top ready.
What I’ve tried to do this week though is to get some more pictures at different stages of the process. Starting off with getting them primed and dry brushed which is the foundation for how the colour will eventually turn out. I’ve taken a little longer on this time in that I’ve primed them and then left them alone for a day before doing the dry brushing. This does mean that the start to finish time is obviously going to be longer. But I’m still trying to keep the overall time per mini down. Which I think is working as I’m actually managing to get things
And that is where my patience and picture taking faulted and I got so focused on painting that I forgot to take any more pictures. I’ll put that down as something to try and remember to do on the next project. But I did get some more minis finished and once they were finished I remembered to take some pictures.
I do have another Pilferer finished but I have run out of small bases so it’s not finished yet. Al gave me some bases but I’ve just not got it finished yet. But it’s not far off and will be added to the fray soon.
But I do have twenty two finished minis that are all table top ready. What’s more I’m really happy with how they have turned out. And I’ve managed to to do that over a few week’s enjoying every step of the process. It’s rekindled my passion for painting and made me want to keep going. Which is exactly what I’m doing. But what do you think of the gang.
I’ve also had a bit of a technical breakthrough this week. For some time now I’ve been using Uylsses to do most of my updates. It allows me to do updates on a number of different devices and syncs between them. I can the publish directly into WordPress but I’ve not been able to add images. Whenever I’ve tried the upload just fails and I get all sorts of problems trying to sort things out. But my hosting provider has made some updates so I thought it was worth trying again. And this time things appear to be working. It’s certainly worked for this update with everything being done offline and then published. Write down to the fact that I’ve been able to make several updates as I finish a section. Being able to add images is the big update but it’s nice to know that I can update a published post. It’s more of a psychological thing but not having to worry about getting the post completed helps me manage my work.
Now last week I said I was going to try and mix in some painting and some kit bash. I’ve been partly successful in that regard in that I did start some kitbashing yesterday. But I don’t have any pictures just yet. I basically got caught up with another painting project which I was enjoying. Then we had a major issue at work that robbed me of quite a lot of time. But the kitbash is underway and I’ll have some pit for you next week.
So until next week I’m going to did you fair well and go back to steeling a little more hobby time. Have a good week and I hope to see you all back here again next Saturday.
