The last couple of weeks have been spent with me realising that whilst I work in IT I really am out of touch with the actual doing as opposed to managing those who do the doing. Anyway the upshot has been that I’ve had to make some updates to the site and it’s one of those things where everything is supposed work by the click of a button. Fortunately for me being the paranoid type that I am I did make a full set of backups before starting. And it’s a good thing I did. Although to be fair the way things went wrong meant that I couldn’t just load the backups which was why there was no update last week. The upshot of the update was the site was up and running but that I had no admin access to do any updates. Access via FTP was fine but not being a coder and needing my pretty user interface via WordPress meant that I couldn’t upload and publish any content. After a lot of fumbling around I managed to get some measure of control back and I have to say my hosting provider were really helpful so by the middle of the week I had things back under control. Now it’s just fingers crossed that everything continues to work. But it has been a reminder that I really do need to do some serious tidy up work on the site. I just can’t be bothered at the moment as there is no fun in it.
Anyway on the hobby front I’ve been working on a few more Atlantis miniatures models so I can see if round two of NMM is any better than round one. Unfortunately, my progress hasn’t reached that stage yet, mainly because I’ve been leaving it until last but I’m liking what I’ve done so fare. These guys are a little bit more dynamic than that last bunch.
I’ve also picked up some Ogres that I’ve made a start on with the view of going with a different skin tone. Like the goblins I’ve gone with blue, simply because I like it, and I’m liking how thing are progressing. Still got a long way to go with these but the models are really nice which just encourages me to want to paint them.
One thing I have been thinking about whilst painting these is how could I find a way of using them in games. Or if not these the models like these and one of the things I was thinking of was whether or not they could be used in WaCry? There are a lot of very nice war bands or crews, not sure what the proper term is out there already. I know because I have a few myself, but could any of these models fill in for some of the ones that have cards but no models. Or the ones that don’t have WarCry models and rely on existing models. That could be one for Al to come up with list of models to make up a crew and I will then pick them up and paint them. If he’s up to the challenge.
That’s it for this week, I hope you are all keeping safe and I’m going to carry on working on these Atlantis Miniature with the aim to try and get them done for next week. No promises but that is my aim. Until then have fun, keep safe and hope to catch you all again next week.
