Gaming for this weeks weekly waffle has been a D&D session last Sunday which was a really good role playing session rather than a fighting session, or at least that’s how it started. From my perspective I got the chance to really get into the bard side of my character telling stories in the tavern and using a bit of magic to get the smoke from my pipe bring the stories to life. Hop manged to find a way to get our hands on some wine that we can use to trade on travels and we got some information of the Pyramids we are heading for. We hired a couple of boats to take us across the main river and up a tributary before we needed to disembark and proceed on foot. All of this proceeded without us getting into a fight with anyone. I set up camp for the night only to find out the others had wandered off and got themselves into a fight with some fay creature. By the time I joined the fight, and getting charmed for my troubles some of the others had taken a real pounding. We managed to banish the fay back to its own realm but when the session both the fay and Hop were back in the fey realm. So we need to hope he can find a way back, as he is a wizard or sorcerer so something so there is hope for him. But we won’t know for sure until we get our next session in.
On the hobby front I happened to walk past the GW store in Preston this week and you just walk past can you. So I had a bit of look round but the only thing I came out with was a Brush pot. Now I know this isn’t a particularly exciting purchase but I have to say I’ve been more impressed than I thought. It’s a sensible size and the wide base makes it nice and stable on the table. But the bit that I think makes this a decent purchase are the little ridges on the base. The are supposed to help get all the paint out of the brush and whilst I’ve only been using it for the last few days it certainly seems to work well.
One of the jobs that I’ve been putting off on the Titans has been the rest of the hazard stripes so I’ve finally got round to doing the rest. The real pain here is that the painting itself is one of the quickest jobs on this project but the masking is the bit that takes forever. But I’ve gone through that fiddly processes and get everything masked up. Then it’s just a coat of Vallejo yellow primer and then a few coats of a bright yellow to give them the pop.
The other job I’ve been working on this week has been to try and get as much of the gold trim complete as possible. Again this isn’t a hard job but it is time consuming. Everything gets a coat of brass as a base colour before I go back over that with a gold. What you find once you get started is that there are lots of bits that need this treatment. The other thing is that you need to be as carful as possible because if you mess up and get the gold on the blue it’s very hard to tidy thins up. So it’s better to go a bit slower and to try not to mess up. So with that in mind I’ve managed to get all the work done on the legs and at least the first brass stage completed for all the other bits so I’m counting that as good progress for this week.
That’s it for this week and the plan for next week is to try and get my act together and finish these guys off. Don’t’ have any gaming planed for this weekend but I think we do have a game night planned for Tuesday. Other than that the plan is to try and get the Reavers finished for next weekends update. I’m not sure just how achievable that is because these things seem to grow new bits of details every time I look at them. Anyway that’s it for this week, I hope you all have a really good weekend and with a fair wind I’ll catch you all again next week.
