Well I hope you all had a good Christmas, didn’t eat and drink too much, although I don’t actually know what too much is at this time of the year. Although I know going to the gym took a lot more effort than normal. I’ve not got any gaming in with game night this week clashing with Christmas day but I have got a bit of hobby time in.
With the bomber finished off I’ve had a bit of reset this week and started on a new project. I’ve tried to keep it nice and simple with the aim of being able to get things completed in no more than a couple of weeks. So what did I go for I hear you say. Necromunda. Delaque to be precise. Now I know I’ve started a few other gangs and not actually finished them so why am I starting on another. Well my plan is to paint these guys up in the standard colours instead of trying to be fancy like I have with the others. And it was those alternative colour schemes that have ground me to a halt as I can’t decide if I actually like them or not. So I do like the standard colours for the Delaque so that is what I’m going for. The other thing that I am going to be very strict with myself on is that these are being painted to be gaming pieces so they don’t have to be perfect. Now I know I can’t paint perfectly but I keep trying and as a result don’t get things finished. So the plan here is to say ‘do they look good from three feet’ not do they look good from three inches. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to try to make them look as good as I can. It just means that I have a clear idea of what good is in this situation.
I’ve had a few nights working on them and with that clear goal in mind I’ve managed to make quite a bit of progress.
I’ve also been working to finish my Ork pilot as well this week. It’s something I want to do more of next year but I’m saving for that for next week. As it is I’ve managed to finish the pilot and I’m really happy with how it’s turned out. Even down to some changes I’ve made to how I painted the base to make it a bit more grungy. It’s got me thinking about picking up a couple more of the pilots that Kromlech dose.
