I’m going to start this week with an apology for not turning up last week. No real excuse I’d just had a really unproductive week and had nothing to put in an update. That and the fact that we all went out for a meal on Friday evening which was a late finish so I decided to take a week off. Afterall it’s only the second update I’ve missed in the last 197 weeks so feel I’ve earned a little bit of slack. And I’m hoping having got a few things done this week you may forgive me. I’ve manged to stir up a bit of mojo this week which has been sadly missing for a few weeks. I think it’s now that the nights are getting dark so much earlier and I haven’t transitioned into winter mode yet. So I’ve just been really lazy and sat on sofa reading instead of getting some painting done. I’m not promising any great change over the next few weeks but I’ve got some updates for you this week.
Starting off we have an update on our D&D adventure. We had a really good session last Saturday but didn’t get a massive amount completed. We’ve the whole group back together and were making some good progress on clearing out the gold cave when things went a bit pair shaped for us. The cave started to rumble but because this had happened before most of the crew in there ignored it which was a big mistake as some sort of giant rock eating worm came surging out of the floor trapping a couple of the guys. In the confusion that followed they made it out using dimension door whilst Mull was trying to fight the worm and free them. Everyone then went back to try and get him out to find he’d been swallowed whole but was regurgitated when we started fighting it. We manged to kill it in the end but gave use a real kicking with Hop almost being killed outright at one point. So as it stands at the moment we’ve got all the gold out of the cave we no just have to work out how we get it out of the town and then decide how to divi it up.
Now we get on to where the mojo had been missing and what I’ve done to kick start things again this week. I’ve been dabbling with lost of different projects of late but not getting anything done so I’ve continued that theme. This time though I’ve gone back to something I haven’t touched for a long time but that has some fantastic models. That is Guild Ball and this week in particular it’s been Colossus for the engineers. I’d decided some time ago how I was going to paint it and over a few session this week I’ve it just about finished. It still needs a base and then I need to think about whether I want to weather it or not. I’m really liking how it looks at the moment and I think what with a bit of satin varnish to knock the shine off it shouldn’t need anything else.
That’s taken up most of my time but I have manged to have a little bit of play with the Esher and I’ve done some work on the hair to get feel for how it will end up looking. Pete had previously pointed out that all of the ladies having blond hair didn’t really work. So I’ve diced to dye their hair to match the pink and blue I’ve already used. This one still needs highlights and shades but it gives you and idea of how things will look once they are finished.
I’ve also started work on a barbarian I picked up from TT Combat. This is a really nice model that I think has that proper old school barbarian feel brought up to date with a fantastic sculpt. I’ve not got a lot done, just primed and a start on the skin tones but it’s been fun so far and I’m hoping I can keep the mojo going long enough to actually get if finished.
This week has also seen the final straw with my airbrush which has been clogging and generally misbehaving for a few weeks now. I’ve cleaned it and cleaned it so many times but I just can’t seem to get it running smoothly. So I’ve resorted to buying myself a new, nozzle and needle. My thinking being that this is the bit that does all of the work so I’ll give this a go and see if fixes the problem. The bits turned up just before this went to post so I’ll see if I get chance to test it before next week.
That rounds off this week, I’ll be back on the D&D front tonight and hoping to keep my mojo ticking along and get some more painting done this week. I hope you all have a good week and I will be back next week and hope to catch you all again then.
