Weekly Waffle #182

I’m going to kick off this week with some mixed gaming updates. First up was that I missed game night on Tuesday because I have to go up to Newcastle for work and just couldn’t get back in time so I think we are going to end up having the longest running first game of Necromunda ever. As there is no game night next week it’s going to end up taking four weeks to get through this first game. Fingers crossed subsequent games don’t take quite as long.

On the D&D front we’ve actually managed to fit in a couple of games this week but it is with a sorry hart that I have to report our party has suffered its first casualty. Marcella who was our cleric has been killed by a notorious criminal gang, granted she was once part of that gang but she thought she had left that life behind her. Some of the party took it harder that others but at the end of the day we couldn’t spend too much time morning her passing as we ended up killing half of the town guard trying to free her after the rest of the party had burned the tavern down after night of raucous drinking. Needless to say we weren’t very popular in town and had to get out of their pronto. So that was Saturday night but we got another gaming session in on Thursday that was thankfully a little less stressfully. For some time now we have been heading for a monastery in the mountains so that I can complete a quest and we are now about a week’s travel away. The going has been getting harder the nearer we get and I’m not getting my hopes up that we will ever get there after some of the things we have come across. In the last three days of travel we have witnessed, and run away from two armoured giants scraping with each other. The fact that they have armour is very worrying to some in the party and we have also come across the recent remains of a caravan that has been attacked and then picked clean by orks. So there is no telling what’s in store for us on the road ahead but at least for my character I have a clear end goal to drive the party towards and then see who wants to pick the direction of travel from there.

On the hobby front I’ve been cracking on with the ork flyer that I’ve decided to now class as a ‘Grot Bomb~eer’. Mainly because it has lots of bombs and is flown by a grot, plus it’s a nice twist on the classic grot bomb. As you can see form the pictures below I’ve got the basic structure of the fuselage parts all bottomed out now but they still look very disjointed at the moment so I need to work out a way to make them look like a whole as opposed to three disparate sections. I don’t think it will be complicated job but I do think it will be fiddly as it will involve adding lots of small armour plates and bits of gubbins. Along with lots of green stuff pipes joining up the different sections and trying to mask the obvious joins. Overall though I’m really happy with how things are progressing.

Now even though I’m happy with how the build is going I’m going to put it to one side for a couple of week and go back to doing some painting. I’m getting a bit fed up with all the trial and error work, which eats up a massive amount of the hobby time. So to keep the battery topped up I’m going to have a couple of weeks of going back to painting. I really need to get some more work done on my Esher girls and I also want to try and finish off the Preacher so that this going to be my focus over the next couple of weeks. I don’t know if will get either of them finished but it will keep the mojo up and if I have any sudden moments of inspiration I can always drop back into the build.

That’s it for this week. I hope you have a really good weekend and a productive hobby week. I’ll be painting and watching La Tour so that’s me sorted. Hope to catch you all again next so until then have a good one.
