This has been the last week of frantic travel for a while so I should get a bit of time in for some games and more hobby over the next few weeks, before round two kicks off. Even though I’ve been on the road this week I have managed to get a bit of stuff done and as I mentioned last week it’s been a bit of departure for me. I was watching the weekender on Beasts of War a while ago now when these models were mentioned and I thought it would be nice to pick them up and have a go at painting them. The style is different to what I’ve done before and because they are cartoon characters they need to painted in the correct colours. Or at least I think they do, otherwise they just wouldn’t look right. I was a fan of Scooby Doo as a kid so it’s been nice to paint these, although I do still have a few bits to finish off.
So first up we have the star of the show in all his not quite finished glory the talking Great Dane, Scooby Doo.
Next up we have Scooby’s indispensable side kick Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, and yes that is his name.
Now my next favourite character is the diminutive Velma Dinkey.
Then we have the very high maintenance Daphne Blake
And last up we have Fred Jones. I don’t know why but I never liked Fred. May be he was just a bit to straight laced for me, but anyway he’s part of the gang so I can really leave him out.
Now you can’t really have Scooby and his gang without a baddy and that baddy on a number of occasions has been a Mummy. Finding a model for this was a bit of challenge as everything I came across had a bit too much of the undead feel to them. After all we all know it’s really Mr Jones the bank manager under all those bandages and he would have gotten away with it if it wasn’t for those pesky kids. Anyway I found this model that sort of fits the bill and I picked up a couple so I could try some different techniques on it. Still has a couple of bits that need finishing but it’s nearly there.
And that’s been it for this week. I’ve now got a week off work so I’m going to try and get lots of hobby time in next week but if the weathers nice I may just play out on my bike all week. Either way I will be recharging my batteries and looking for new projects. Hope you all have a good weekend and I’ll catch you all again next week.
