• Weekly Waffle #25

It’s been a quite week on the gaming front for this week’s weekly waffle. As I said last week I’ve spent most of the week in Newcastle for work so didn’t get any gaming in at all. On the hobby front I did take some of the my Guild Ball minis aways with me and I’ve taken the time to clean up both my Butchers and my Brewers. So that should save me a bit of time when I get round to painting them. A nice surprise however was a parcel waiting for me when I got home yesterday. Not full of minis but full of dice, or to specific…

    Weekly Waffle #23

Ok then I’ve got a few updates for you on todays weekly waffle. Gaming this week was back to playing Zombiside. We had a slightly different line up of players this week and we even had a plan. Everything started off really well with us all working together and soon having all the items we needed to collect. All in the first large building we entered. So now all we needed to do was collect the three remaining objective markers and head for home. The only problem was that we already had the ‘A-bomb’ zombie on the table. Still not that big of a problem as a Molotov cocktail soon…

No gaming club for this week’s weekly waffle so I’ve spent the whole week just focusing on cracking on with Guild Ball. The bulk of my time this week has been spent working on the Fisherman’s Guild. The poses on these models make them harder to paint than the Alchemists and I’ve struggled to come up with a colour scheme that I’m happy with. The obvious choice was to go down the route of the studio painted models but I know I just couldn’t do that justice and would never be happy with what I ended up with. So I kept the idea of working with blue as the main…

    Weekly Waffle #21

I had my first game of Zombiside on Tuesday for this week’s weekly waffle and have to say that I really enjoyed it, even if my so called mates left me to be eaten alive after rushing to their aid. For such a simple concept the game play is fantastic and it really draws you in. If you’ve not played it and you get the chance I would highly recommend it. It’s easy to pick up, engaging and most of all fun. I had a really good night playing it and will certainly be playing again. On the hobby front I’ve been concentrating on trying to get my Alchemist’s finished…

    Weekly Waffle #20

I’ve managed to get a few different games in for this week’s weekly waffle starting with Star Wars X-wing last Sunday. We had a bit of mash up with a six player three way battle. Two Imperial, two rebel alliance and two scum & villainy. I was on the rebel side and used Dash in the Outrider along with an E-wing. Things went well to start with until the Imperials and Scum decided to pick on me and turn the Outrider into a pile of scrap. We didn’t play the game out to the end because we just ran out of time but it’s fair to say that scum were…

This week’s weekly waffle has seen me continuing with both my Black Wolf Fleet for Dystopian Wars and the Alchemist Guild for Guild Ball. Although it’s fair to say that the bulk of my time has been spent on the Black Wolf fleet. I just seemed to get into a flow with them and have really enjoyed painting them. It’s been a bit of trial and error with them but I’ve got the colour scheme nailed down now. Even though the Ghost Tint never seemed to dry. Or to be more precise it felt dry to the touch be seemed to bleed through when I tried to apply any colour…

  • Weekly Waffle #18

I’ve had a really nice week for this week’s weekly waffle with no crises or catastrophe’s which has meant I have managed to fit in some relaxing hobby time. In keeping with my idea about mixing up what I’m working on so that I don’t get bored or bogged down I’ve split my time between Guild Ball and Dystopian Wars. On the Guild Ball front I’ve sorted out the colour palate I’m going to be using for my Alchemist Guild and have blocked in all the colours so I can get a feel for how they will look. I was really happy with how they looked and I’ve now started…

  • Weekly Waffle #17

Well after the turmoil and carnage that has been the last few weeks for me, this weeks weekly waffle has seen a welcome return to what passes for normality. No crises, catastrophes or disasters, just a run of the mill normal week. On the hobby front I’ve managed to finish off my Dystopian Wars Russian Coalition Arial Battle Group. Finishing these off has also got me looking as some different options what it comes to list building. As a Russian player my go to option seems to always be the ‘Gunship’. For their points they one of the best ships out there, able to soak up a beating to get…
