• Weekly Waffle #35

Well for this week’s weekly waffle I’ve got something of bumper edition with all the pictures I have for you. Not all my own work but I’ll get to that later. First off we had our first gaming night for a few weeks this week and got absolutely no gaming done. We just sat round drinking cups of tea and talking about the abundance of different games out there and what we were interested in. A couple of interesting things came out of this. The first was Al talking about Frostgrave which is something I’ve had an interest in so we may be looking at this in the not to…

So what I have I been up to for this week’s weekly waffle, the simple answer to that is not a lot, but I do have a few updates for you. I know that sounds a bit nonsensical but I’ve had a week off work so I’ve had loads of time on my hands, but rather that try and get loads of things done I’ve just been lazy. Well not totally lazy but I’ve only sat down to paint when I’ve been in the mood. The result of that has been that what time I have spent painting has been quite productive. Just goes to show you can get more…

Not a great deal to update you on this week’s weekly waffle so I’m going to cheat and add in lots of pictures. No game club again this week so no gaming to update you and I haven’t been able to get any work done on the brewers this week. As I mentioned last week I’ve got something of a gammy eye and have had to have an eye patch on for most of week. This has had two very distinct effects. On is that it’s made me look I’m making a really poor attempt to be a pirate and the other that with one eye you have no depth…

This week’s weekly waffle has been something of roller coster for my on the hobby front. I finally started to get my mojo back for painting but had had to spend a couple of day up in Newcastle for work. Then on the way back my right eye started to feel really sore and by Thursday morning I it felt like I had a piece of chopped chilli trapped under my eyelid, which I wouldn’t recommend. After navigating the bureaucracy that is the NHS it turns out I have an ulcer on my eye. Nothing that can’t be sorted but it’s going to be sore fore a while. The only…

  • Weekly Waffle #30

Well after last week’s bumper weekly waffle I’m afraid this week may be something of a disappointment. I’ve been feeling a bit under the weather all week so haven’t got very much done. I missed game night on this week because I was feeling sorry for myself and couldn’t be bothered to move. Which meant no demo games, although Pete is looking to get a Brewer team after last week’s demo. Whilst the Brewers are fresh in my mind I’ve managed to make a little but more progress this week with mine. The hair and skin are now finished so things are getting there with just the details left to…

    Weekly Waffle #29

Gaming for this week’s weekly waffle actually started on Sunday morning with a five way game of X-Wing. Apparently I must have done something wrong because I had to start in the middle of the table with everyone gunning for me. It was a fifty point game so I went with a YT-2400, there were three Fire Sprays and one Decimator. My tactic was to stay out of the way and let the others beat themselves up, then sweep in for the kill, and for a change it worked. Claimed the glory, if the not work, for taking out three of the four. Well you it’s not right to kill…

  • Weekly Waffle #28

No game night for this week’s weekly waffle so I’ve not had chance to lose another game of Guild Ball. But I have had chance to get some work done on my Butchers. There are quite a few examples of nice Butchers teams out there so fining inspiration for these was easy. I’ve stuck with standard colours that appear in the art work and unlike the Morticians these are colours that I feel quite happy painting so I’ve been finding it much more enjoyable to paint these. Because I have a couple of versions of Ox and Boiler it’s meant that I have nine models to paint this time which…

    Weekly Waffle #27

The highlight of this week’s weekly waffle gaming news was mine and Al’s second game of Guild Ball. It was still only a three player game on a two by two board but we had a much better idea of the rules and the general feel for the game. Again it was the Alchemists facing off against the Fishermen, and the Alchemists got a pasting. Alchemists kicked off and the Fishermen scored on the second activation of their return, Alchemist then scored following the Goal Kick and the Fishermen got another from that Goal Kick. We have decided that a two by two table is just too short so we…

  • Weekly Waffle #26

Let’s start this week’s weekly waffle off with some gaming. Game night this week saw us have our first game of Guild Ball with the Alchemists against the Fishermen. Considering we were only using quick start set up of three models per team and a two foot square gaming area it took us ages. Lots of referring back to the rule book and querying things. But with each turn things got faster and we had a really good game. I was using the Alchemists and Al was using the Fishermen. Both have very different styles but they seemed to be very well balanced. We go to the stage where we…

    Alchemist’s Guild Painting Guide

I’ve got something a bit different for you here in the form of an Alchemist’s Guild Painting Guide. With these being such new models there aren’t any painted examples out there to get inspiration from. This is good in that anything that I do should be ok but bad in that I find deciding on a colour scheme one of the hardest things to do when starting a new project. Whilst there are no painted models out there, or none that I can find, there is quite a bit of artwork that shows the Alchemist’s Guild with a mainly green colour scheme to them. In particular the images on the…
