• Weekly Waffle #124

This week’s weekly waffle hasn’t been quite as mad as the last few but I’ve still not managed to get any gaming  in. But what I have done is to dig out an old project and make some good progress with it. Inspired by painting up and basing my Russian battle ship I’ve kept things in the world of Dystopian wars and I’ve gone east. I picked up an Ottoman Empire box set a couple of years ago and worked out how I wanted to paint them but never got passed the first test piece. Mainly because I came up with an unbelievably fiddly process but having done one I…

  • Weekly Waffle #123

Well it’s been a really bad week this week for hobby this weeks weekly waffle. I’ve had family over from France so I’ve been playing nice and spending time with them, which in fairness has been nice and then away again all week. So the only thing I’ve really managed to get done this week is to green stuff some base inserts. I need these for the fishermen I’ve been working on and for a couple of other things that I’ve done but not got round to basing. But in keep with how manic things have been I’ve not even had time to take any pictures, not that green stuff…

  • Dystopian Wars, Russian Coalition

    Weekly Waffle #122

I haven’t been able to get as much done for this week’s weekly waffle as I did last week but I’m still really happy with what I’ve achieved. No gaming due to Al being on his jollies and me working in Walsall. Looks like I get all the exotic locations. Anyway after getting quite a bit done on the fisher men last week I’ve kept the nautical them but switched scales. After showing you the new Pakhtusov Battleship last week I couldn’t resist making a start on it with a new colour scheme. My take on this is that it’s part of the Russian Coalition Northern Fleet which explains why…

  • Weekly Waffle #121

This week’s weekly waffle saw a return to my nomadic life style so no chance to get any gaming in but having said that it’s been a reasonably productive hobby week and the post man has delivered a few surprises. It’s always nice when you pre-order something and then forget all about it until it turns up on your door step. So first up this week are the images that I couldn’t get uploaded last week, technical issues now resolve. As I mentioned last week I had ordered the first of the modular ships for my Dystopian Wars Russian Coalition force but hadn’t really paid any attention to the fact…

  • Mist

Guild Ball – Mist Painting Guide

This is a painting guide for the new model for Mist that I picked up through the Locker Room as it had only previously been available as a prize at some Steam Forge events. For me the sculpt is really evocative and much more menacing than the previous version. With that in mind I wanted to move away from the mainly purple that I used on the original version and go with something a bit more natural. But I still wanted to keep some purple in there as that is the Union’s colour, or at least it is for me.     I started off using the airbrush with Vallejo Black…

  • Close Combat Futura

    Weekly Waffle #120

A bit of mixed up weekly waffle this week. I was supposed to be around for game night but then ended up having to travel only for things to go a bit pear shaped which meant that I got to spend the rest of the week at home. Now when you look at the update this week I just want to emphasise that I have not been taken over by a body snatcher and it’s still me. Just me that’s had a bit of hobby time and a bit of new found enthusiasm, which I think has come from trying something different. So first up this week we have a…

    Weekly Waffle #119

I’m going to throw in a bit of shocker this weeks weekly waffle and say that I actually turned up for game night and what’s more I actually got a couple of games in. And just to cap things off I won both, although it was more down to blind luck than any skill on my part. So I’ve not had any travel this week so it was round to Al’s for games night and we had a couple of games of ‘Bang! The Dice Game’. It’s a simple cowboy game, although there are other options and expansions available, which is really easy to pick up and play. The basic…

    Weekly Waffle #118

I’ve got a bit of lightweight update for you this week’s weekly waffle. More traveling for work but this week has seen the end to the worst of the work for this year. I’ve still got lots of travel to contend with but all the really messy and fiddly things that have been keeping me awake are now out of the way. So I don’t really have any excuses now to plan in some hobby time whilst I’m away so I’ll see how that goes. Another key things for this week has been disappointment. After picking up White Dwarf last week and then waxing lyrical about the new flying Dwarves…

    Weekly Waffle #117

For this weeks weekly waffle I’ve had another week on the road but in a first for this project everything has worked as expected first time. Which has meant that while I’ve still been doing long hours it’s not been that stressful. And the office I’ve been working in this week is about a five minute walk from a Games Workshop store which may or may not have been a good thing. I went in for a couple of brushes and saw that the new White Dwarf was in so picked that up at the same time, which with hindsight may not have been my best move, but I’ll come…

    Weekly Waffle #116

I’m not sure where to start for this weeks weekly waffle there has that much going on for me away from the hobby. Work is even more manic that usual but I’m working on the principle that the bulk of the really messy stuff should be out of the way by Easter. I’ll still have a lot of traveling to do but I would have the hour after hour of e-mails to go along with it. Or at least that’s how it should work. The travel has been real eye opening this week. I’ve been working on a site near some major bridge works and having early starts and late…
