    Weekly Waffle #105

Well were to start for this weeks weekly waffle, as I mentioned last week I know work was going to start to get a bit manic but I didn’t know it would start as soon as it did. I missed game night this week because I’ve been on the road all week. It’s also meant that I’ve not go very much done this week, just a few hours to work on some Death Watch. But I do think those few hours were productive as feel like I’m making progress with them. I’ve already made the bases for them so I just need to keep plugging away to get them finished.…

    Sergeant Crooks – Painting Guide

Sergeant Crooks is one of the Baker Street Irregulars who in this twisted setting are the Hench men of the notorious criminal mastermind that is Sherlock Holmes aka the Kingpin. Every devious criminal mastermind needs a man on the force and though Holmes has many in his employ it is Crookes who, more than any, is willing to show his dubious allegiance, standing side-by-side with the Baker Street Irregulars in scuffles. I haven’t been able to find any painted examples of Sergeant Crooks so I’ve just had to make things up as I went along. Obviously he’s a police man so blue needed to be the predominant colour so I…

    Weekly Waffle #104

Well were into a new year so I thought I would start the weekly waffle off with a couple of New Year resolution type things. Now I’m going to be a bit vague with some of these as I want them all too enjoyable challenges as opposed to things I have to do because I put it down in writing. They are basically things I’ve been putting off because I think they are a bit too hard or a bit too time consuming but they are things I actually want to do. So the first of these is that I am going to try and finish off my grot stomper…

    Weekly Waffle #103

This weeks weekly waffle has been a bit more mixed up than normal, which is saying something after the last few weeks. I think it’s just something that seems to happen at this time of year where I end up spending lots of time doing as little as possible and trying to avoid the chaos that can make any time off a nightmare. My plan was to chill out and to try and get some hobby in, which sort of worked. What I really wanted to do this week was to crack on with my Militarum Tempestus and get them finished off. Didn’t work. I did manage to make some…

    Weekly Waffle #102

Well hello and welcome to what I’m considering the Christmas Edition of the weekly waffle, even though Father Christmas won’t be here until tomorrow. Assuming you’ve all been good this year. Will any of you get any gaming or hobby in over Christmas. I was hoping to have a really good update on our multiple games of Kill Team following game night this week but things didn’t work out quite how I had planned. Pete had taken the time to write up four lists and the plan was that we would all pick a list at random to use. He’d told me which death watch models I needed to bring…

    Weekly Waffle #101

So with all the excitement of last week now over its back to normal for this weeks weekly waffle. With Al back off his jollies game night was back on and Pete brought along Kill Team for us to have a look at. We didn’t actually get chance to have a game as until Pete showed us the rules we didn’t know what we would need. But we have arranged for a few games next week. Pete is going to write up a number of what we hope are balanced lists and we will the randomly pick a list to use. We have more than enough models for whatever lists…

    Weekly Waffle #100

So todays post marks the centenary of my weekly waffle and to be honest I’m amazed I’ve made it this far. I’ve said before that when I started the site it was really only a way of rekindling the flagging enthusiasm for the hobby I was experiencing at the time. And I have to say it has done the job. Over the last hundred editions it’s slowly turned into the norm with me starting each week thinking about what I’m going to have to do too have some content for the next instalment. Some weeks this is easy and occasionally I even manage to get ahead of myself and get…

  • Weekly Waffle #99

I’ve been on the road again this week so no game night for me to update you on the weekly waffle. In fact I haven’t had a great deal of hobby time either. But all this travel has given me some material for a bit of a waffle. Like a lot of people I have fallen out of love with Games Workshop over the last several years. There was a time when going to the doubles tournament at Warhammer world was a regular event. Something we didn’t even think about, we just booked the tickets as soon as they were available, stopped in the same hotel and generally had a…

  • Weekly Waffle #98

For this week’s weekly waffle there was no game night again so a chance to make a start on a new project, or really an extension of what I’ve already been working. I’ve really enjoyed painting up the Deathwatch Kill Team so I decided to carry on and picked up the Deathwatch Cassius Kill Team. I’ve liked these models since the boxed game came out so being able to pick them up as a set of models without the game is great business idea for GW. And this got me thinking about something GW said earlier this year that didn’t really make sense to me at the time. They said…

  • Death Watch Kill Team

    Weekly Waffle #97

No game night for this week’s weekly waffle so in theory I’ve had some more time to get some painting in. In reality that’s not turned out quite how I thought it would. Whilst I’ve been working on finishing off my Deathwatch I’ve also started watching Falling Skys on Netflix so I haven’t got as much painting done as I planned. But I have finished watching season one and cracking on with season two at the moment. On the hobby front I’ve decided to go with a technical type of base for the Deathwatch and green stuffed up some bases for them. It was a struggle to try and think…
