So I’ve had another week on the road but in a first for this project everything has worked as expected first time. Which has meant that while I’ve still been doing long hours it’s not been that stressful. And the office I’ve been working in this week is about a five minute walk from a Games Workshop store which may or may not have been a good thing. I went in for a couple of brushes and saw that the new White Dwarf was in so picked that up at the same time, which with hindsight may not have been my best move, but I’ll come back that later.
Over the last couple of weeks I’ve started to lose a bit of my mojo for painting that I think has come from not getting as much painting time as I would like. So last weekend I thought I would get back into my other hobby passion which is scratch building. This has really taken a back seat since I stopped playing 40K and with the exception of making bases for people I’ve not done a proper scratch build project for some time. But that is about to change. Quite a few years ago I picked up a number of Forge World Runt Bots one of which has always been earmarked to be a Warboss on a bike. So I decided to find out where I had stashed the bits and make a start on things. But that was where I ran into my first hurdle, what sort of bike to go for. Thankfully Twitter came to the rescue and thanks to Al and Greg I now have a plan. My new Warboss is going to be on jet bike with rocket boosters, it will be really shootie and really loud. In essence it’s going to be a big jet engine with the Boss at the front and then the rockets and guns strapped to the side of the engine in some utterly precarious manor. I don’t have everything worked out yet but I’ve made a start on the boss by changing its position so that it looks like it is sitting rather than standing and I’ve also changed the right arm so that I can make it look like it will be holding some sort of control.
So that’s what I’ve been working on this week but as I mentioned earlier I picked up White Dwarf this week and I think I may have fallen in love. There on the front cover is a picture of the new Kharadron Overlords and it just gets better as you delve further in. Up to now I’ve not got the bug for Age of Sigmar because not the armies really called out to me but I think these guys could tip me over the edge. They look fantastic and form the bit of background I have read so far I like that to. This really is a faction I think I could love. Couple that with the potential I think these guys have for conversions and it could be a winner on all levels. I’m not sure when they are due to be released but I think I will be picking up a few just to see if I can come up with a colour scheme I like and if I can do then then who knows where this might end up.
I’ve not completely forgotten about the Deathwatch this week but they have taken something of a back seat. The bases are now finished so I really am almost done with them. Just the final details to finish off and they can be added to the rest of the force.
And that’s it for this week. Not sure if it will be a painting or a scratch building update next week but whichever way it goes I’ll be back here and I hope to see you as well. Last thing for this week is to wish Al good luck in his first Malifaux event this weekend so I hope fate is on his side.
