I’m not sure where to start this week there has that much going on for me away from the hobby. Work is even more manic that usual but I’m working on the principle that the bulk of the really messy stuff should be out of the way by Easter. I’ll still have a lot of traveling to do but I would have the hour after hour of e-mails to go along with it. Or at least that’s how it should work.
The travel has been real eye opening this week. I’ve been working on a site near some major bridge works and having early starts and late finishes I wanted to be on the right side of the bridge so I didn’t have to spend a long time travelling. One of the guys I’m working with volunteered to do the bookings and everything seemed ok until we got on site and it came out in conversation where we were stopping. The general consensus was that we would find it ‘interesting’ and it certainly lived up to expectations. I have never had the pleasure of stopping anywhere that has steel roller shutter blinds over the windows, that you control from inside the room. And I’ve been to some dodgy places in my time. It was that bad I didn’t even get the few miniatures I’d taken with me out of the car. Needless to say I survived the experience and it’s somewhere I’m not going to be rushing back to any time soon.
To take my mind off the thought of impending doom I’ve been looking at some of the rumours that are out there for 40K 8th edition and I have to say I like what I’m hearing. Or more specifically I like some of what I’m hearing. It seems like GW are going to build on the success they have had with Age of Sigmar and whether you like it or not it has been a success. So if the rumours are to be believed there will be the option to play with whatever you want which we all like to do from time to time. There will be a version of the Generals hand book which I think will be aimed at tournaments so not really something I’m interested in but it’s a good idea. The there is the bit that I think I am most interested in and that is themed play. I’ve always been more of a fan of the fluff as opposed to the rules and being rewarded for taking a list that fits the character of your force is something that really appeals to me. It’s a look back to 3rd or 4th edition when you could get your Chaos aspiring champions for free if you took the right number of models for you chosen god. Now I know that any change will upset some people but it might just be the change that brings me back to 40k and even if it doesn’t this time round I certainly think it’s moving in the right direction.
So that brings me onto this weeks hobby which hasn’t been as profitable as I would have liked. I’ve not quit managed to get my Deathwatch additions finished, although they are nearly their. Heads are now done and its really just a case of finishing off the details and then getting them based. I’ve made the bases so they just need a lick of paint
And that’s it again for this week and it’s been one hell of a week so I think I’m going to spend a lot of time in bed this weekend trying to catch up on some sleep. Have a good week and I’ll see you all again next weekend.
