Weekly Waffle #268

It’s been a steady week this week although to be fair I could probably have got more done that have. I’ve been playing around with a few new ideas and when I do that, I tend to get a bit lost in my thoughts and allow my existing projects to wander a bit. The result this week has been that the Splintered Fang haven’t been touched, well technical not true, I did touch them to move so that I could get at something else but that doesn’t really count. The work on the Mek Gun has progressed and I’m now calling it finished with the final touches and weathering all done. I really like how this has turned out and there will be at least one more to follow give that I’ve already completed the trukk that will tow it. Who know if I pick up two more that may even spur me on to get the third trukk completed, I have all the parts for it so it’s just a case of cracking on and getting it completed.

Given that there are four different ways the Mek Gun can be used and me not wanting to have things fixed to a single configuration. Because lets face it if you run three in a battery which I think would be the normal way to field them, then you would need twelve models to cover all bases. Not cheap on the wallet and quite time consuming. With the exception of one part, the four prong like elements on the barrel, all the other pieces and be swapped out and don’t even need magnets, just push them in to place and friction does the rest. And the prongs looks good on all the versions so it’s a win, win. Blow are some pictures of the completed gun in it various guises:

First up we have the very entertaining Bubblechukka

Next a quick change to bring you the Mega Kannon

Pit crew at the ready to bring you the Trakktor Cannon and this is the version that should have the prongs, so all is good here.

Then last but by no means least we have the final configuration the Smasha Gun

One of the key decisions I made when I first started to think about his build was that is should be towed behind a trukk. Now this offers nothing in game terms, but I wanted it to look like it had a way to get the battle field and also to help tie it in with the overall feel of the rest of the models I have. I think the end result, although it’s a small conversation, has a big impact.

From a conversion point of view there are only a couple of changes to the basic model. The main ones being the addition of some larger wheels, courtesy of Zinge Industries, along with an extra grot terminal on the side of the gun carriage. Little things but I think it makes it just different enough and the larger wheels make it fit in with trukk much better.

That’s it for this week. Overall, I’m happy with how things have gone even if I would have liked to do a little bit more. But I think that is always going to be the case with me. I’ve got some parts in for another project I’m going to play around with next week. I’ve still got the Splintered Fang to get finished and I haven’t forgotten about them and will be getting them finished. It’s just that I’m keeping my mojo alive by doing what I feel like doing as opposed to forcing myself to meet some arbitrary deadline. So, I will have some new updates for you again next week I just don’t know what they will be yet. I hope you all keep safe and look forward to catching up with you next year.
