Weekly Waffle 225#

This week weekly waffle I’m putting down as a really good hobby week. Not necessarily a really productive one but I’ve really enjoyed everything I’ve done with none of it feeling like a chore. That is until I started trying to writ the waffle for this week. I’ve sat down to type it up and my mind has gone blank and my fingers have stopped working. I was even in two minds about just giving up but I can’t do that so here we go with take two.

No gaming this week but we do have a D&D session planned for tomorrow and I’m thinking it’s going to be a lazy snack eating session for me. After last week I’m not sure if there is anyone in our party who can cure me so it may be interesting for a few sessions with my character currently still having an intelligence of 1. But what makes it even better is that it’s a bank holiday here in the UK this weekend so even if it’s a late night I know I can have a lie in on Monday.

On the hobby front I’ve been working on the last of my titans in the form of the Warlord. Or I should really say the last of my current batch of titans as I do really want to pick up at least another couple of Warhounds. Of all of one I’ve built to date this has been the easiest and most straight forward of those builds. I couldn’t resist not adding some magnets to the process but his as been restricted to the weapons, as I will be getting the alternate weapons at some point. As well as the large centre section of the shoulder pads which will allow me to give things a bit of shake up each time I field it. In an attempt to fill things out I’ve got lots of pictures for you of what I’ve been up to starting with who it looked before entering the paint shed.

Next up was a basic black undercoat. Because of some of the ideas I have for the end job I’ve also left a full day between each of the steps so that each coat of paint could cure properly. My hope is that when I start masking areas off for later stages I don’t end up pealing what is there already.

With the primer down it was time to start the work that will give me that metallic turquoise effect I have on the other titans. The first step in that was to cover all of the areas that will end up with that effect with a black metallic.

Then after another day I used silver to zenith highlight everything. This is a bit of cheat but one I’m happy to use because it really works.

Now all of the stages above have been preparation for this stage. This is where the colour starts to come into play. Again using the airbrush with lots of thin layers to build the colour up. This gets the first coat down but because it is going over the top of the previous metallic layers you start to get highlights and shading showing through. There are a few more stages to go to finish this colour off but I have something a bit different planned for that so you will have to wait for next week to see how it turns out.

With all that work done I need to have a bit of change so I’ve done some work on areas that are going to have a red contrast, again in keeping with the other titans. So I have decided to paint the apocalypse missile launchers and a head in red. Nothing fancy about these but by adding the gold details it just feels like I’ve made a lot of progress this week.

That’s it for this week. My plans are to carry on with the Warlord and with a fair wind I will get all of the turquoise elements finished and possibly a start on the gold trim. We have a D&D session planned for tomorrow so I’m really looking forward to that so all in all I think it’s going to be a good week. I hope you all have great weekend and look forward to catching up with you all again next week.
