Weekly Waffle #210

It’s been something of a weird week in the world of hobby for me this week’s weekly waffle I think this is going to turn into something of ramble this week. To start off with I’ll bring you to speed on what happened in our D&D adventure last Saturday. When we left things we had just managed to survive an attack from a Dragon and we thought we might get a chance to recover. Bu no just when we needed a rest we were faced with the poor souls that had just been killed by the dragon starting to raise up again to attack us. We had some sort of giant abomination outside and an necromancer floating above a shimmering pentagram inside the hunters hall. So we thought if we managed to kill the necromancer the abomination would disappear. Wrong. By the time a few of us had got rid of the necromancer the two how had stayed outside were down and out so it was time to set to work outside. We all took a beating but in the end we managed to get rid of the abomination with out actually loosing any of the party, but it was a close run thing. Thankfully there was nothing else out there looking for use so we managed to get a good nights rest. And that is where the session ended.

Unfortunate it’s going to be a few weeks before we can all get together again so the adventure is on hold for a while. But our lovely DM has arranged a bot of one off adventure for those of us who are around this weekend. As this is a standalone adventure were we have been told we have been asked to recover an artefact we will need new characters. Looking for something different I’ve gone with a Gnome Rogue (Arcane Trickster) which I’m hoping will be a laugh to play. Time will tell if I’ve made a good chose but you won’t have long to wait to find out as this game is planned for tonight so I should be able to update you next week.

Game night this week was a quite one for me but there was a game of Blood Red Skys going on with BF109e’s up against Spitfires. I left before the end but everyone seem to be enjoying themselves. On the other end of the table there was a test game of DBA and I know even less about this. As far as I can tell it’s a rule system that lets you play lots of different armies from different eras all in 10mm. It looks quite interesting but not one that I will getting onboard with.

On the hobby front I’ve been working on a couple of random models in the D&D theme. The first one is one that I got during a class at Adepticon last year so I have no idea who it’s from or that it’s actually supposed to be but it does look interesting. It’s one of those models that I just think is interesting to paint even if I don’t actually have anything I want to use it with. As far as I can tell it’s some sort of female samurai type character holding the sort of thing that you sometimes see affixed to a warriors back.

Next up as more traditional D&D type character that I’ve had for quite a long time and is made by Scale 75. It’s an elven archer that I started some time ago and then it just ended up sitting there waiting to be finished because I didn’t have any use for it. I still don’t have anything I want to use it for at the moment but as part of my plan to work my through some of my unfinished models I thought it was time to crack on with it. I haven’t managed to finish it yet but it’s well on its way and I’m liking how it’s looking so far.

I’ve also succumbed to another game this week and ordered a box of plastic crack from my nemesis, Element Games. Ever since I saw Al’s Titans I knew I was going to cave and get some so when I got paid I was straight on to Element and I’ve ordered the maniple deal they had for a Warlord, Reaver and two Warhounds. The real killer on this is that they turned up this morning so I’ve forced myself to do the update before I’ve even opened the box and had a look. I’m going to have a play around with a few colour schemes but I do know that I’m going to do something of my own and not go with an existing Legio colour.

So with that I’m going to bring this weeks entry to an end. I hope you all enjoy whatever you have planed for the week. One of the things for me will be watching the six nations rugby followed by playing D&D and getting some hobby time in. So until next week have a good on.
