Dystopian Wars – Republique of France – Painting Guide
This has been the project that has caused me the most consternation ever. I have liked the Dystopian Wars models for the Republique of France since I first saw them; in fact I think they are some of the best models in the entire game. So it should be a no brainer to pick some up and get painting. The problem is that being ex Royal Navy I haven’t been able to bring myself to paint a French fleet. I know it’s silly but there you go. Anyway I kept going back and looking at the models but I didn’t have a paint scheme in mind until now. I wanted…

This weeks weekly waffle #Site Title #Post Title #Site Title #Post Title #Site Title #Post Title has been the first ‘normal’ week I’ve had a long time. Or at least as normal gets for me. Tuesday so the return of game night and me and Pete squared off across the ocean in a game of Dystopian Wars Fleet Action. This was a chance for me to give the French a run out now that they are all painted and ready to go. It also made a change for Pete as he didn’t have to face my Russian Gunships and he really likes Russian Gunships. To be fair it was something…

This weeks weekly waffle has been marked with a mix of hobby success and monumental epic failure. I’ll star with the positive and leave you in suspense for the failure, which I hope means you’ll read all the way to the end. Now I’m working really hard to separate the two as rationally I know there is no connection but deep down there is that that little voice saying you know why this happened and it’s all your own fault, you just had get the French fleet. But I’m not listening to that voice and I’m going to expand my French fleet so there. So the success was the completion…

It’s been a bit of mixed up week this week for the weekly waffle and I’ve put the white dwarf to one side and instead gone down a dystopian route. To be precise I’ve gone down a French dystopian route with my French fleet arriving. Now I’ve found that it’s not easy to get any painting done in a hotel room cleaning and building up models is another thing altogether. That meant that I manged to get everything prepped and ready for painting whilst I was away. Then with two nights at home I’ve had a bit of time to get the airbrush out to make a really good start…

So I’ve been back on the road again this week and haven’t really had a lot of time to get anything done for the weekly waffle and once again no gaming. With it being a bank holiday last weekend I was hoping to get some hobby time in but I spent most of t it tidying up the garden and trying to get my car to work. The first I did a really good job of and the second I failed miserably. It’s had an ongoing electrical problem that I thought was the battery draining due to lack of use but even after a full charge it still won’t start…

This week’s weekly waffle hasn’t been quite as mad as the last few but I’ve still not managed to get any gaming in. But what I have done is to dig out an old project and make some good progress with it. Inspired by painting up and basing my Russian battle ship I’ve kept things in the world of Dystopian wars and I’ve gone east. I picked up an Ottoman Empire box set a couple of years ago and worked out how I wanted to paint them but never got passed the first test piece. Mainly because I came up with an unbelievably fiddly process but having done one I…

Well it’s been a really bad week this week for hobby this weeks weekly waffle. I’ve had family over from France so I’ve been playing nice and spending time with them, which in fairness has been nice and then away again all week. So the only thing I’ve really managed to get done this week is to green stuff some base inserts. I need these for the fishermen I’ve been working on and for a couple of other things that I’ve done but not got round to basing. But in keep with how manic things have been I’ve not even had time to take any pictures, not that green stuff…

I haven’t been able to get as much done for this week’s weekly waffle as I did last week but I’m still really happy with what I’ve achieved. No gaming due to Al being on his jollies and me working in Walsall. Looks like I get all the exotic locations. Anyway after getting quite a bit done on the fisher men last week I’ve kept the nautical them but switched scales. After showing you the new Pakhtusov Battleship last week I couldn’t resist making a start on it with a new colour scheme. My take on this is that it’s part of the Russian Coalition Northern Fleet which explains why…

For this week’s weekly waffle there was no game night again so a chance to make a start on a new project, or really an extension of what I’ve already been working. I’ve really enjoyed painting up the Deathwatch Kill Team so I decided to carry on and picked up the Deathwatch Cassius Kill Team. I’ve liked these models since the boxed game came out so being able to pick them up as a set of models without the game is great business idea for GW. And this got me thinking about something GW said earlier this year that didn’t really make sense to me at the time. They said…

So I thought for this weeks weekly waffle I would have a truly British introspective on a subject that is really close to our hearts and how it impacts on our hobby. Yes you guessed it, it’s the weather. Over the last couple of weeks we have had some decidedly un-summer like weather and I think this has had a big impact on my motivation to paint. It’s frankly been a little bit depressing. So I’ve been sitting down to get some painting done, in this case an Italian fleet from sunny Italy whilst it’s cold and rainy outside. And I’ve ended up just sitting there thinking that I just…
