• Weekly Waffle #277

Well it’s the start of the year and that time where the foolish amongst make all sorts of promises about what we are going to accomplish in the year ahead. Based on last year I’m not going to make any promises but I am going to stick my head above the parapet and say that there are some things I’m going to do. The first is very much dependent on being able to see friends again but once we get there I’m going to work a lot harder to get some gaming in. I’ve been lazy when it comes to learning games and painting models up for games, so I’m…

  • Weekly Waffle #255

I’m really not sure just where to start this week as it’s been something that I’ve never experienced or even considered as being possible. It’s a times like this when having a hobby, no mater what it is could be the only thing that keeps you sane. In my case it is certainly helping. I was expecting to be bringing you an update from Adepticon today but instead of having spent the week exploring Chicago and then having some great times with a group of like minded gamers, I’ve found myself at home on my own seeing no one. Here in the UK, like lots of places around the world,…

  • Weekly Waffle #254

No game night this week seeing as how Al has the lurgy and him being one of Pappa Nurgl’s special one’s no one wants to go near him. So this has given me an extra night to work on finishing off the Grot Bots before I head off across the pond next week. The main thing that I needed to get completed was to get the heads built and I was pleasantly surprised how smoothly this seemed to go. Like everything else on this project it’s been a fiddly job but as I’ve not really made any changes to the design it was just a case of cracking on with…

  • Weekly Waffle #253

No game night this week so that has given me an extra few hours to really try and focus on progressing with the Grot Bots, which has become something of an all-consuming thing at the moment. Although I have also spent some time working on updating the back end of the site so in theory it should be a little bit more stable going forward. Nothing major because I don’t really know what I’m doing so just trying to do enough to keep things ticking over. Now that I’m getting down to the crunch end of the build as anything that isn’t finished next week just isn’t going to get…

  • Weekly Waffle #251

No gaming for me this week as it was mum’s birthday on Tuesday which is normally game night, and we went out for a family mean instead. Which was a really nice night so not a bad thing to doing in place of a bit of gaming. That was on the back of having a very loved up weekend where I did no gaming and no hobby but did have a really nice time. Considering the bad weather, we had here in the North West of England it was actually really nice to stay indoors, with a nice drink or two and lots of box sets to watch. A good…

  • Weekly Waffle #216

This week has been another mixed bag with me getting quite a lot done although I don’t have lots of pictures to share with you on this weeks weekly waffle. Some but not a lot. First off this week was that I managed to make it to game night although I didn’t actually get a game, but it did act as cheer leader for some Necromunda action. Explain the games.        On the hobby front I’ve made a bit more progress on my barbarian with the leather sections now complete along with the turquoise cloth sections. The weapons are nearly there but there but still need more highlighting. Overall though…

  • Weekly Waffle #168

For this week’s weekly waffle I’m hoping that some sort of normal service will be restored. As promised last week I managed to drag my thoughts together and get the review / update of Adepticon published this week so I hope that gave you taste of what it was like. And if there any of you out there planning your own trip I would highly recommend it, I’m hoping to be back again in 2020 so I may see you there. So what have I got for you this week? With this being a waffle I’ll start with a bit filler and that has been that I have finally gotten…

  • Weekly Waffle #167

So I’ve been back form Adeptecon for a few days now and having booked the rest of the week off I haven’t needed to go back into work yet. Which means I’ve had lots of time to put together a packed update for this week’s weekly waffle. Except what I’ve actually done is lazed around all week and done nothing, or next to nothing. I will get round to getting more images uploaded and into a proper post event post but I’ve just not done it yet. What I do want to say is that it was a really good event and I for one will be going back, probably…

  • Adepticon Update #2

Friday: Adepticon Day 2 For me most of the day was taken up with seminars. An early start gave me three and half hours in a class run by Caleb Wessenback from CK Studios all about painting black and white. Quite a long course but it absolutely flow by. I’m gong to do more of in-depth update once I get back but the basics of it were all about understanding tonal values and how to apply them on the mini which once we got started really made sense and I picked the basics up without much problem. Now it’s just a case of practice, practice, practice. No quick wins with…
