Weekly Waffle #57
Gaming for this week’s weekly waffle saw me and Al finish off our Malifaux game and after two nights of gaming we ended up with a draw. The interesting thing for me was that I lost half of my models and didn’t achieve any of the ‘strategies’ for the game but I did manage to pull of two ‘schemes’ which gave me four victory points. Al on the other hand managed to get two ‘strategies’ and one ‘scheme’ which game him four victory points as well, he also wiped out half of my crew, but he doesn’t get anything or that. That is one of the things I like about…
Weekly Waffle #56
This week’s weekly waffle actually started on Sunday morning with a six way x-wing game with each of us having 50 points. I was unimaginative and took Outrider and ended up facing off against to Y-666’s from Pete and Corrie, Al had a single E-wing, Stanners had an IG-2000 and Mike had a pair of Y-wings. I had a really good day and managed to get the first kill after Pete had been shot up by everyone else, dashing in to take the glory. It didn’t last though as I took a bit of a beating but was still there at the end. We ran out time in the end…
Weekly Waffle #55
Not a particularly long update for this week’s weekly waffle there was no game night this week so I’ve had a little more hobby time. As I seem to have hit something of a road block with my Wild West Exodus I’ve turned back to the world of Wyred this week to finish off my Kaeris Malifaux Crew. I’ve done these a bit about face by finishing the bases before I finished the models themselves. I’m coming to the conclusion that I really like making and painting bases, although I didn’t make these. It’s just one of those things that I find a quick win that then sort of inspires…
Weekly Waffle #54
Well I’ve still not managed to shake off the hobby blues although game night was back on for this week’s weekly waffle. Me and Al had arranged to have a game of Wild West Exodus but that went a bit astray. He’s got the rules through for the tournament he has entered at Adepticon so he wanted to play with these rules. Only problem was I didn’t’ have enough points, because I couldn’t use my hired hands. So after a lot of talking Pete turned up and we ended up playing ‘Get Bit!’. It’s really simple but really good fun. Essentially you are all pirates whose ship has sunk and…
Weekly Waffle #53
I think I’m still suffering from something of a new year hobby hangover and haven’t managed to get a great deal done this week’s weekly waffle. In my defence I have been suffering from man flue and have spent most of the week curled up in my chair with a cup of tea and a chocolate hobnob or five. But towards the end of the week I started to feel a bit better and did manage get in a token bit of hobby time. That token hobby time was spent trying to make a bit of progress with my Wild West Exodus Rangers. I don’t know what it is with…
The Road to Adepticon #3
So another Adepticon update for you this week. With the accommodation and tickets already sorted the only thing we needed to finalise was the flights. Now I have to be honest here I didn’t put myself forward to sort this out but Darren did, and after much toing and froing trying to keep us all happy the flights are now booked. It’s really weird but it hasn’t felt quite real until now. I suppose there’s nothing like handing over a wedge of cash to make things feel real. Although it was all electronic so it was a metaphorical wedge of cash. As well as the flights being booked I’ve also…
Weekly Waffle #52
I’ve hit something of milestone with today’s weekly waffle#Post Title #Site Title #Post Title #Site Title being number 52 which means the site has now been going for a full year. In fact the first pose was made on the 9th of January last year and I must admit I’ve surprised myself that I’ve kept this up. When I originally set up the site I only set the domain up on a three month contract just to see how things went. Needless to say it’s been updated since then and with a bit of luck I’ll be able to keep things going for another year. So what do I have…
Weekly Waffle #51
Well it’s been a really weird week for this week’s weekly waffle, I always find that week between Christmas and New Year to be like that. No gaming this week with everyone having other commitments but I did spend some time with Al helping him to resolve some issues he had at home in his cellar were we game. We basically needed to move some shelving units and it’s the sort of job that’s easier with a bit of help. It also got us thinking that it might be a good idea to reorganise things a bit and to give the place a lick of paint. So we might not…
Weekly Waffle #50
No game again for this week’s weekly waffle with everyone getting ready for Christmas, although I don’t really know why you need to get ready. Anyway it’s been a bit of lazy week for me on all fronts. I’ve not done any painting and have only managed to get a bit more work done on the stompa scratch build. Although I’ve tried lots of different options to get to this point. The good thing from all my trial and error is that I now think I have design for the parts that aren’t yet finished, so another week or so should see the bulk of the work completed for the…
Weekly Waffle #49
No game night for this week’s weekly waffle so it gave me a bit more hobby time but I don’t know if this is a good thing or not. With the ‘Special Brew Challenge’ looming in the background I haven’t picked up a paint brush this week. Instead I’ve gone back to a bit of scratch building and started work on my ‘Grot Stompa’ again. This basically came about following on the Red Steel event where both Ben and Al said that there was no chance of me having it finished for Christmas (2016), so I’m going to prove them wrong. I’ve shown some of the pictures before but as…
