Weekly Waffle # 383 – Out of context
Weekly Waffle # 383 – Out of context 21st June 2025 For this week’s Weekly Waffle I have stuck with the principle I established a couple of weeks ago of giving you part of a larger project. Work is still keeping me really busy with lots of travel so hobby time has become an even more precious commodity. It’s something I’ve talked about quite a lot lately but it’s taught me a few lessons that I think are worth sharing. We all have times in our hobby journey where hobby time is limited for a whole host of reasons. Mine at the moment is work but it could just as…
Weekly Waffle #382 – Back to Bases
Weekly Waffle #382 – Back to Bases 14th June 2025 For this week’s Weekly Waffle, I have gone back to bases because I have a few vehicles that have been finished for quite some time but that have never been based. Mainly because the style of base I wanted to do was very time consuming and I just didn’t have the time or to be honest the inclination to build them. But because I’ve been juggling my hobby time lately, I thought that changing up the style of the base would allow me to actually crack on and get them built. So what hobby time I have had this week…
Weekly Waffle #381 – Sneak Peak
Weekly Waffle #381 – Sneak Peak 7th June 2025 For this week’s Weekly Waffle I have been battling with myself about what to do. Things are still really busy at work so hobby time is very limited. But I’m acutely aware that I haven’t given you a hobby update for a few week’s. Although I have enjoyed putting the hobby topic waffles together. So this week I really wanted to give you some hobby content but I just haven’t got anything finished. So I’m going to break one of the rules I tried to set myself about not sharing work in progress. My thinking is it’s ok to break a…

Weekly Waffle #370 – Exo armour
Weekly Waffle #370 – Exo armour 15th March 2025 For this week’s Weekly Waffle I thought I would give you a bit of an update on my trip to the Big Smoke last week and then get onto the hobby update. We had a really nice weekend with lots of sightseeing and some really good food. All in all a very nice weekend. Spent the first evening at Covent Garden where we had a really nice meal and a few drinks. Saturday was a walk along the Thames followed by an afternoon at the British Museum. Then in the evening we went up the Shard to get some fantastic night…
Weekly Waffle #369 – A Full Hearth
Weekly Waffle #369 – A Full Hearth 1st March 2025 For this week’s Weekly Waffle I have once again been juggling hobby time with travel for work. I have come to the conclusion that if I had some sort of steady rig, like a camera man, then I would be able to get so much more hobby done each week. But trying to paint whilst on a train, especially a train in the north of England, just isn’t a viable option. It’s good to get some reading in or catch up on a pod cast or two but hobby time is a no. Having said that it does give me…
Weekly Waffle #368 – Half the Hearth
Weekly Waffle #368 – Half the Hearth 22nd February 2025 Demi Squad For this week’s Weekly Waffle I have stayed with the Leagues of Votann but moved away from command units. This week I’m bringing you the core of any force, the line troops. In the case of the Leagues these are the Hearthkyn Warriors. And in keeping with these hardy, if somewhat short of stature, warriors I’ve only managed to finish half of the squad. But such is there prowess in combat I’m sure they will serve the Leagues well, at least until next week when I hope to have the rest of the unit finished. I didn’t want…
Weekly Waffle #367 – Champion
Weekly Waffle #367 – Champion 15th February 2025 In this week’s Weekly Waffle I have continued to work on my Leagues of Votann characters. This time going with the Einhyr Champion. I’ve kept the formula the same by starting with the airbrush and then switching to the brush. The big difference, or at least it felt like a big difference when I was painting it, was the overwhelming amount of orange. On the Kahl and the Prospectors the orange armour parts were offset by the dark grey clothing. But this guy is nearly all armour so you don’t get that relief. I do think the base helps to offset things…
Weekly Waffle #366 – The Bald One
Weekly Waffle #366 – The Bald One 8th February 2025 This week’s Weekly Waffle see’s us staying with the Squats but this time we have moved away from Necromunda. I’ve kept the same colour scheme but have had to change the colour placement a little. But I think it still works well. The reason for the change is because I haven’t decided if I want the troops to have helmets or bare heads. And seeing as how the Kahl only comes with a bare head I had to do something that brought the blue into the top of the mini. Which I think this does nicely. It’s not quite the…
Weekly Waffle #365 – The gang is al together
Weekly Waffle #365 – The gang is al together 1st February 2025 For the Weekly Waffle this week I have switched from Infinity back to 40k. Or more accurately in this case Necromunda, with the last of my Iron Head Squat Prospectors squad. I’ve really enjoyed painting these guys and will be looking to expand the gang in the not too distant future. There are some really nice Forgeworld, or at least what used to be Forgeworld, as I’m not sure it even exists any more. Anyway there are a few different characters that would fit in nicely with these guys. I may even look at another box to expand…
