  • Weekly Waffle #251

No gaming for me this week as it was mum’s birthday on Tuesday which is normally game night, and we went out for a family mean instead. Which was a really nice night so not a bad thing to doing in place of a bit of gaming. That was on the back of having a very loved up weekend where I did no gaming and no hobby but did have a really nice time. Considering the bad weather, we had here in the North West of England it was actually really nice to stay indoors, with a nice drink or two and lots of box sets to watch. A good…

I’ve spent most of this week feeling sorry for myself as I’ve got a cold, with the corresponding runny nose which is just really annoying. Now with that one line of a moan out of the way I want to really start this week of a bit of plug. I’ve mentioned over the last few weeks the club has a YouTube channel by the name of Red Rose Wargaming and that Al and Anna have been driving this content mainly with WarCry battle reports. This week they have done a number of updates covering off some of the new war band cards that came out last Saturday. Al has been…

The best laid plans of mice and men springs to mind to open this week’s waffle. My intention for the week was to make a start on the Grot Bots and also to work out if I had enough material to actually build them all and if not get it ordered. I knew I shouldn’t need anything to fancy, just plastic tubing and box section of the right size to make the job that bit easier. Well that was the plan but reality has been very different this week. I’ve had quite a bit of travel to do for work so I missed game night again this week which was…

    Weekly Waffle #244

Now it’s been a while since my last weekly waffle update and as I mentioned before it’s really been down to me trying to find the balance between a new relationship and the hobby. I’ve not got the fully worked out yet but I wanted to start the year with an update as I have started to get the balance which means I do have some finished models to share with you today. I also want to share a few things form last year as well as having a bit of look a the year ahead. Nothing as brash as laying out any resolutions but there are a few things…

  • Weekly Waffle #243

Now then it’s been a few weeks since my last update but unlike following previous gaps in service I’m not going to apologise for this one. It’s been down to the fact that I’m in new relationship and I’ve been putting my time into that and not the hobby. And that doesn’t read very well at all, but essentially I’m in a really happy place at the moment and the hobby has taken a bit of back seat whilst I got here. But now that we have got over that giddy start and things are settling down I’m starting to fit the hobby back in. It may not get back…

  • Weekly Waffle #242

A slow but enjoyable week this week. It started, or more accurately last week ended, with our first D&D session for what feels like an age. Things were a bit slow to start with whilst we were getting back in to the groove and having lost two characters last time out there were a couple of new characters to be introduced to the party. Things started quite well for use with a clear objective in front of us and our decision making was made simple because we were up against a hard deadline so had to keep things moving. With our goal in site we encountered something like the scarabs…

  • Weekly Waffle #238

I’ve had a bit of a break this week to try and recharge my batteries ahead of a final push to finish off the Warlord in a few weeks so it’s quite a short weekly waffle. It’s also seen something of gauntlet thrown down whilst I was out with Pete for a few beers over the weekend but I’ll get to that in a little while. First up this week I’ve got a gaming update for you. Yes, I know it’s something of rare thing for me to actually get a game in, unless it’s been a D&D session. But following the taster session we had playing Black Stone Fortress…

  • Weekly Waffle #237

It’s only going to be a short weekly waffle today as I’ve been mad busy at work this week. As I mentioned last week are advertising lots of jobs at work which has meant that for most of the week I’ve either been helping my team write up their applications or shortlisting other applications. Not a hard job but very time consuming and I have to say at times absolutely soul destroying. It’s become a joy now when I get a good one. Now all of this has really impacted on my hobby time and it’s also meant that I’ve not actually finished my application and the window closes tomorrow…

  • Weekly Waffle #236

I missed game night this week and I’m gutted as the plan was to start a Black Stone Fortress campaign. Having said that it’s not the end of the world as there still chances to get involved but it would have been nice to be there from the start. So instead of having fun and playing games I was having to write a personal statement and job application as we are having a restructure at work and I need to go through the process of applying for my own job. So I was stressing out trying to get things completed but it’s not all bad as I’ve now got the…
