Lots of travel again for me this week so no game night for me but I did try get some of my none gamer colleagues to try a new game but this one was a bit of a fail. I have Rory’s game cubes on my phone so I tried to get them to have a go but they weren’t that interested. They liked the idea so I may have to pick up some actual cubes and give it a go again. Whilst the app is really nice there is something just a bit more engaging about having the dice rolling on a table where everyone can see them.
One thing I missed off from last week’s update was belated Guild Ball Christmas present. Al, being the sneaky, underhanded, unethical Union player that he is had been trying to get hold of new Mist model for some time now. So as part of the Black Friday sale I ordered a copy of it for him with the intention of giving it to him as a Christmas present. Then it turns out that they sold more than they planned and they needed to make more. Comms were good in saying the orders would be delayed and it wouldn’t be here for Christmas. Then I forgot all about it and it turned up a couple of weeks ago. So I boxed it up and gave it to Al when we went out for a couple of beers on Saturday. And his little face lit up as I think he had given up on ever getting it. My only misgiving now is that I will have to face it on the table and it always kicks my ass.
On the hobby front it’s been more slow but steady progress with the Smoke and Mirrors Crew. This time I’ve gone for one of the two Coryphee and changed up the colours a bit for this one. So instead of reds or pinks I decided to go with blue for this one, but I have to say that I’m not overly keen on how it’s turned out. I wanted to go with quite soft colours like the others but it’s ended up being a bit flat and I couldn’t work out how to give it more pop. So I ended up cutting my loses rather than trying to keep going with no real idea on how to get what I had in my head onto the model. Whilst I’m not over the moon with how it came out I still think it looks ok and will be more than happy to use it in games which at the end of the day is the key thing.
Anyway that’s it for this week. Updates are likely to be a bit brief between now and Easter with hobby time being whatever time I grab between work. Looking forward to an afternoon of Ruby today so depending on how the score goes, and the alcohol consumption associated with that will depend on how much work hobby I get done on Sunday.
