Game night for this week’s weekly waffle saw us get a couple more rounds Dystopian Wars in. With hindsight going for a four way game as our introduction to Fleet Actions may not have been the best idea but it is generating some interesting game play. Al’s Britianian fleet has been picking on Dan’s Black Wolf fleet with some devastating ramming action. I lost my first ship to fire from Dan’s Manticore and Pete has continued to harass Al’s dreadnaught that has now taken seven points of damage (out of ten). But we also learned that the Brits have a special rule where they can repair damage at the end…

Game night for this weeks weekly waffle saw us continuing with our four way Dystopian Wars battle and I’m happy to report that the mighty Russians are still in the battle. Although one of Gun Ships has taken a points worth of damage. Everyone else has lost a least a couple of ships but to be honest they only reason I haven’t lost more is that I can’t get into range. The battle moved away from me right at the start and I have been playing catch up ever since. That is good in one way because I have received the least attention and as such the least damage. On…

    Weekly Waffle #91

No game night this week for the weekly waffle with Al having to earn some pennies to keep the bank manager at bay. But we have decided that October is going to be Dystopian Wars month with games planned for the rest of the month so I need to get a look at the new Fleet Action rules before next week to work out what I need. Not that it really matter because my Russians are going to rule the wave, he says with mock bravado. On the hobby front I’ve been working on something of an eclectic mix with a bit of Malifaux, some Relics and some wall building…

I didn’t get a game in this week’s weekly waffle but did get to watch Al get beat up in a game of Age of Sigmar. I still have no idea what is going on in the game but he had loads of Sigmar guys against some nearly unkillable lizard things. Needless to say he didn’t manage to kill it but it was fun watching him try. The Tree Lord is finally finished although it doesn’t’ really look any different than last time. It’s basically just been a case of working round the model making sure all the details have been captured, and believe them there are a lot of…

Didn’t get much gaming done on game night for this weeks weekly waffle. Al was full of cold so we just spent some time drinking tea and building up some Mantic terrain and getting confused. It’s a good one for a waffle though. Most to the terrain goes together really easily and is very intuitive but there are some pieces that just don’t seem to make sense. A classic example is that there is a really nice engine / generator piece but one side looks like it isn’t finished or that something else should fit up to it. The only problem is that we have been through every other piece…

Gaming for this week’s weekly waffle saw me and Al finish off our Malifaux game and after two nights of gaming we ended up with a draw. The interesting thing for me was that I lost half of my models and didn’t achieve any of the ‘strategies’ for the game but I did manage to pull of two ‘schemes’ which gave me four victory points. Al on the other hand managed to get two ‘strategies’ and one ‘scheme’ which game him four victory points as well, he also wiped out half of my crew, but he doesn’t get anything or that. That is one of the things I like about…

  • Weekly Waffle #56

This week’s weekly waffle actually started on Sunday morning with a six way x-wing game with each of us having 50 points. I was unimaginative and took Outrider and ended up facing off against to Y-666’s from Pete and Corrie, Al had a single E-wing, Stanners had an IG-2000 and Mike had a pair of Y-wings. I had a really good day and managed to get the first kill after Pete had been shot up by everyone else, dashing in to take the glory. It didn’t last though as I took a bit of a beating but was still there at the end. We ran out time in the end…

Not a particularly long update for this week’s weekly waffle there was no game night this week so I’ve had a little more hobby time. As I seem to have hit something of a road block with my Wild West Exodus I’ve turned back to the world of Wyred this week to finish off my Kaeris Malifaux Crew. I’ve done these a bit about face by finishing the bases before I finished the models themselves. I’m coming to the conclusion that I really like making and painting bases, although I didn’t make these. It’s just one of those things that I find a quick win that then sort of inspires…

  • Weekly Waffle #54

Well I’ve still not managed to shake off the hobby blues although game night was back on for this week’s weekly waffle. Me and Al had arranged to have a game of Wild West Exodus but that went a bit astray. He’s got the rules through for the tournament he has entered at Adepticon so he wanted to play with these rules. Only problem was I didn’t’ have enough points, because I couldn’t use my hired hands. So after a lot of talking Pete turned up and we ended up playing ‘Get Bit!’. It’s really simple but really good fun. Essentially you are all pirates whose ship has sunk and…

No game night for this week’s weekly waffle, Al has been off on his jollies to visit friends in Spain so it’s given me a bit of chance to do some painting. I’ve given up on my Showgirls ever turning up so I’ve picked up the Kaeris box to get a fix of Malifaux. It’s been a while since I painted any Malifaux and I’d forgotten what pain they can be to put together. But they are fantastic models so well worth the effort. This crew consists of Kaeris, 3 Fire Gamins, Eternal Flame and Firestarter. I’ve made a start on all of them and have really enjoyed painting them…
