Weekly Waffle #285
It’s been back to the grim dark future for me this week, in more ways than one, and I’ve managed to keep the painting up for a whole two months. Ok I know that’s not such a great deal and the actual volume is very low but I’m considering it a win. I’ve managed to turn out quite a variety of different minis, I’ve been happy with all of them and most importantly I’ve actually enjoyed working on them. Which at the end of the day is what this is all about, or at least it is for me. Now before I show you what I’ve been working on this…
Weekly Waffle #284
Things have slowed down somewhat this week, but it’s been a time management issue rather than a loss of mojo. It seems to happen more and more at the moment but it’s been a really busy week at work with lots of late nights doing testing. The result has been I’ve only had a couple of hours of hobby time over the whole week which I’ve spent on something a bit different, or at least different for this week. I’ve given you some near future, post-apocalyptic, some Renascence fantasy and this week I’m going to give you a taste of the grim dark future, so prizes for guessing where I’m…
Weekly Waffle #283
This week I’ve had two hobby projects on the go and with the start of the Six Nations rugby again last weekend my hobby time has been reduced a little bit. For me it’s been a welcome fix of live international rugby which invariably involves drinking beer, in this instance a selection from Tiny Rebel. Especially given England’s performance. The result of this is that last weekend wasn’t the most productive on the hobby front. But it doesn’t mean that the rest of the week hasn’t been productive. For your delectation this week I have been back to Renascence Europe, specifically Venice for a bit of action. I’ve had my…
Weekly Waffle #282
This week has been another where I’ve managed to get in reasonable amount of hobby time and I’ve been enjoying it while the mojo is still in full flow. I’ll get to what I’ve actually been working on a bit later in the post but I’m going to start with an idea that has been bouncing around inside my head and I think it could make an interesting project. Ever since I painted Silencer Bane I’ve been thinking about that near future look that the mini has and I went off on something of a tangent thinking about how something like that would come about. The technology itself isn’t that…
Weekly Waffle #281
Another week and the ball is still rolling in the right direction, the mojo is still there and I’m enjoying my hobby time. Granted I’m not churning out a mass of miniatures but I’m enjoying doing something a little bit different and I’m really happy with what I’m producing. I think the key for me at the moment is that I’m content when things don’t turn our quite how I would like them to. By that I mean that in each of the Nuts Planet minis I’ve finished to date there are things with each of them that I know could be better. But rather than fixating on them and…
Weekly Waffle #280
The January mojo is still flowing and I’ve had a good week of hobby. Not put a massive amount of time in but I think I’ve made good use of the time I’ve had. This won’t work for everyone but what I’ve been doing is when the misses wants to watch one of her programs on TV I say I’ll get out of her way and go and do some hobby. Which means that I’m giving myself lots of mini deadlines and being very focused and I’m getting things done. Not very quickly but I’m getting them done which I’m enjoying because I can see some progress with each session.…
Weekly Waffle #279
I’m being a good hobbyist this week and I’m bringing you my first finished project of the year. Yes, that’s right I’ve actually started and finished a project without being side tracked by something new and shiny. I know it’s only the project of the year and the odds of keeping this up all year are next to zero, but I’m going to take all the wins I can get this year and be proud of them. Now then do I think that everything is perfect with the mini and there is no room for improvement. Absolutely not. There are lots of bits that I think I could have done…
Weekly Waffle #278
Following on from what I know was a bit a lazy update last week I’ve actually got a new project on the go for you this week. It was nice to do a bit of retrospective for the first update of the year and to be honest it also allowed me to get a lot of the work done up front and not worry about what I was going publish. I know that I wanted to try and break the bad habits I’d dropped into over the last six months or so. It’s one of those things were if you miss one week then missing the week after is a…
Weekly Waffle #277
Well it’s the start of the year and that time where the foolish amongst make all sorts of promises about what we are going to accomplish in the year ahead. Based on last year I’m not going to make any promises but I am going to stick my head above the parapet and say that there are some things I’m going to do. The first is very much dependent on being able to see friends again but once we get there I’m going to work a lot harder to get some gaming in. I’ve been lazy when it comes to learning games and painting models up for games, so I’m…
Weekly Waffle #276
I’m going to start this week by saying that despite what Tesco may have said I hope none of you found yourselves on the naughty list and that Farther Christmas has added to your hobby dilemmas for next year. For all of us I’m sure this has been a very different Christmas, I’ve got friends who have been working and will be tucking into a meal today. Whilst for others their world has been turned upside down this year and they just want to get to the end of the year in one piece. For me it’s been a roller coaster of a year with some very good highs and…
