  • Weekly Waffle #49

No game night for this week’s weekly waffle so it gave me a bit more hobby time but I don’t know if this is a good thing or not. With the ‘Special Brew Challenge’ looming in the background I haven’t picked up a paint brush this week. Instead I’ve gone back to a bit of scratch building and started work on my ‘Grot Stompa’ again. This basically came about following on the Red Steel event where both Ben and Al said that there was no chance of me having it finished for Christmas (2016), so I’m going to prove them wrong. I’ve shown some of the pictures before but as…

  • Weekly Waffle #48

For this week’s weekly waffle we have been planning and at the weekend a few of us came up with a plan for next year. Nothing special just a way to try and get a few more games in. So we’ve decided that January is going to be Wild West Exodus month, followed by Malifaux in February and then something new for March with Frost Grave. As a bit of inspiration we’ve set up a bit of challenge to have crews painted for everything and to make sure we don’t slack off there is forfeit for anyone who doesn’t have their models ready. But I’ll go into a bit more…

  • Weekly Waffle #46

No game night for this week’s weekly waffle but as I posted during the week I did spend Tuesday morning sat in front of the computer trying to book tickets for Adepticon next year. And at 02:00 in the morning it turned out to be an exercise in frustration. I did manage to book the tickets in the end but it took a grand total of two hours and I didn’t manage to book all the games and hobby seminars everyone wanted. Now that I’ve had chance to sleep on it I can’t be too disappointed but at the time I was nearly crying. Everything went well until I got…

  • Weekly Waffle #45

Game night for this week’s weekly waffle was mainly taken up being top notch geeks and planning what we wanted to do at Adepticon next year. With tickets going on sale on Monday at 20:00 Central Time, which works out at 02:00 Tuesday morning in the UK, I wanted to know what everyone wanted me to book. So I now have a list of games and events that everyone wants to attend but still leaves us lots of time for a general look around and maybe even a bit of drinking. Who am I kidding, lots of drinking. Next step is to see if I can actually book everything that…

  • Weekly Waffle #44

So game night for this week’s weekly waffle on Tuesday but it only consisted of me and Al so we spent the night trying to work out what we need to do in order to book our Adepticon tickets. The long and short of it is that I somehow ended up “volunteering” to do the booking for all of us. Which means being up at two in the morning on the 24th to book them so that’s something to look forward to. On the hobby front I’ve been playing around with some base designs this week. I’ve made a bunch of wooden decking bases that I plan on using for…

  • Weekly Waffle #43

No game night for this week’s weekly waffle, Al has been off on his jollies to visit friends in Spain so it’s given me a bit of chance to do some painting. I’ve given up on my Showgirls ever turning up so I’ve picked up the Kaeris box to get a fix of Malifaux. It’s been a while since I painted any Malifaux and I’d forgotten what pain they can be to put together. But they are fantastic models so well worth the effort. This crew consists of Kaeris, 3 Fire Gamins, Eternal Flame and Firestarter. I’ve made a start on all of them and have really enjoyed painting them…

The car was working for this week’s weekly waffle, apparently the problem is that I don’t use it enough so the battery is draining due to lack of use. Guess I just need to do more driving. Anyway it meant I could make for game night this week although I didn’t actually paly. I was watching Ken and Dan playing out a 6mm Napoleonic game that looked quite interesting. Ken’s manoeuvring looked more like something from Strictly come dancing than any battlefield manual. But he was adamant that’s how it was done when he was a lad so who are we to argue. It did look like a good game…

  • Guild Ball, Masons

    Weekly Waffle #41

So then, I feel another wandering weekly waffle coming on again this week with something of an eclectic mix for you this week. Game night again this week but unfortunately I missed it. Went out the car on Tuesday night only to find that the battery was dead and it wouldn’t start. Car hadn’t been used for a week so it was a bit of pain. Anyway I didn’t need it again until Friday so Dad to the rescue with some jump leads on Thursday night and things are working again. Top and bottom of it though is that I now don’t trust it to start when I need it…

  • Weekly Waffle #40

A bit of quite week for this week’s weekly waffle. No traveling for work which was a nice change and then no gaming club this week, so lots of time for hobby so that’s the only update for this week. I think that the mojo is starting to come back as I managed to get quite a lot of work done on the Masons. I know I said I was hoping to have them finished for today but I couldn’t quite manage that. But they aren’t far off. It’s just a case now of going over them and finishing off some the details and making sure I haven’t missed anything.…
