Weekly Waffle #68
To start off this week’s weekly waffle I have two game updates for you. Me and Al got together on Saturday for a re-match between his Union and my Butchers. To be honest from my point of view I wish we hadn’t bothered because I got an absolute tubing. The score ended up being 12 – 2 to the Union. For me it went wrong from the kick-off with getting players in the wrong position, then the dice gods deserted me and I never recovered. There was no game night on Tuesday for this week’s weekly waffle but me and Al did manage to finish off our Guild Ball on Sunday with the Butchers running out winners with a score of 12 to 8. It was a really fun game and showed that we really need the practice before we turn up Vengeance next month. I think that Al suffered from using the Union or at least his selection of players that didn’t seem to work well as a team. Whilst I opted to go with the Butchers to try and keep things simple. For game night for this weeks weekly waffle me and Al had arranged to get some Guild Ball in so that we could get up to speed with the rules before Vengeance on the 14th of May. When I turned up Al was just finishing up a game of ‘40K Kill Team’ using the Space Marines and things weren’t going his way. I have to say that this isn’t a game that really interests me but I think it’s a good move from Games Workshop to do this sort of thing and the miniatures that come with the game are very nice. Well where to start with this week’s weekly waffle. I got home from AdeptiCon 2016 on Tuesday and spent the day getting all those boring washing and ironing jobs out of the way whilst at the same time trying to stay awake and to beat the jet lag. I think that by time I want to bed on Tuesday I’d been up for something like thirty two hours. I’m having to do this weekly waffle from my mobile phone so it’s really only going to be a place holder for a more detailed update once I get home. But the short update is that we’ve had two days here, got lots of games in, drunk a lot of beer and met some really nice people. I’ve also picked up a bunch of minis to make up a new and more personal Frostgrave warband. No game night for this week’s weekly waffle, it was Al’s little brother’s birthday, although for anyone who knows Gaz little doesn’t do him justice. He looks like Grizzly Adams. So that meant no chance for a final WWX test game, but it also gave me a little bit more time to finish the last few models. As I highlighted last week I needed paint up four new models and I was dreading the prospect. I just haven’t had the mojo for painting cowboys for some time now. No game night for this week’s weekly waffle but I’ve been on the road all week for work so wouldn’t have been able to get any gaming in anyway. It’s been a mad week at work this week so I wasn’t really feeling in the mood when gaming night came around. The plan for the weekly waffle had been to finish off the MERCS game and then have our first game of Frostgrave. So the first part of the plan went well. Al had been reading up on the ‘Breach and Clear’ rules so we got straight into that and completed it with style. Game night was back on again for this week’s weekly waffle and I actually get in a couple of games, or finished one and started another to be more precise.
