It’s been a bit of funny week for this week’s weekly waffle . Work has had me away from home for a few days so I’ve not got as much painting time in as I would have liked. Having said then I have managed to make some progress with some more Haqqislam troops for Infinity. Sekban (Special Naval Force) to be precise. These guys are medium infantry in game terms and like the Muyibs from last week the box set here gives a range of weapon options. So for this this week’s weekly waffle I’ve not done anything with the site. For the most part I’m happy with how things are working, although there are couple of things that I need to fix. As soon as I know how to. Galleries are still something I’m playing with but I think the ones that are there at the moment will do until I can finalise what I’m looking for. Weekly Waffle #4
Well this week on the site front I’ve been playing around with a few changes to the Galleries. I’m still not sure if I’m happy with them yet so I’ll probably carry on messing for a while yet until I settle on something I like. On the hobby front the manic pace of the first couple of updates has started to come down to a more sustainable pace. I have finished off ‘Boiler’ for the Butchers Guild from Guild Ball and as I’ve said in a couple of updates I’m really looking forward to the rest of these models turning up. I’ve been doing quite a bit of work on the site again this week and think that things are now starting to settle down a bit. On the functional side the static pages are now displaying what I want them to, in more or less the right way. I have managed to find a gallery plugin that seems to work, although I’m going to leave it in the trial mode until I have a few more images uploaded so I can test it properly. Site Layout & Function
A bit of an admin update to let you know that I am going to be playing around with some changes to the layout of the site this week. The site itself is built on WordPress and the ‘theme’ I have been using seems to be giving me some grief when it comes to adding images. Sometimes things work and then on something that I think is set up the same it doesn’t. Well I’ve made it to the second weekly waffle and still have lots of enthusiasm so I’m hoping that’s a good sign for the future. With only so much hobby time in the week a lot of it this week has gone on the site, with not a lot to see from the outside. But I have been busy with the back end. Knight Models – Deathstroke
So this will be the first of the painting guide to have supporting pictures to go along with Deathstroke form knight models. I tried to capture as many steps as possible but I think there may be a few missing. But it’s a start and with a bit of luck I’ll get better as I go along.
Dystopian Wars Russian Coalition
Having got the bug for Dystopian Wars again after working out a colour scheme for my Ottoman Fleet, I have been looking for a ‘major faction’ fleet for my next project. I really like the Empire of the Rising Sun but as Pete already has these I thought I would look at the Russian Coalition. Without knowing all the fluff that goes with them I thought that if I went with a Black Sea fleet this would tie in with my Ottoman fleet. MERCS Kemvar
Having finished the CCC Yellow Jackets and used them in a game I decided I really like MERCS and wanted to expand my collection a bit. Of the other factions I like, MERCS Kemvar were at the top of the list so I decided to give them a go. They use a pale colour scheme for their armour so again it would be style I don’t normally do but would offer me a nice challenge.
MERCS CCC Yellow Jackets
I’ve had these MERCS models for quite some time now and have been really struggling to get the yellow to look ok. On several occasion I had considered going with a completely different colour scheme but yellow is something of a nemesis so wanted to try and get it right. After quite a bit of trial and error and a few baths in Nitromors to clean things up I have managed to get something that I feel happy with.
