I’ve had another hiatus from updating the site but this time it hasn’t been for any one reason. A bit of background is that my hobby desk has now turned into my work desk and after a long day at work I just didn’t want to spend any more time sitting there than I had to. Coupled with me losing my mojo I simply stopped doing anything. I had lots of ideas for tings I wanted to do but getting round to them just didn’t happen. For me it felt to much like being at work as opposed to enjoying myself painting. To get round this and to try and get my mojo back I’ve rearranged my desk quite a bit to try and give me enough space to differentiate between work and hobby. I’m also hoping that doing this will mean that I only have out what I need for a particular project. My thinking is that this will force me to work on one thing at a time and it will also make me focus on what colours to use as I don’t have all my paints out on racks now. Then just when I thought I was getting back on track I had a major problem with the site itself.
For the last couple of weeks, I’ve had no access to the site and anything I’ve tried to do to resolve it has failed. I’m no web developer, running the site on WordPress so I don’t have to do any coding or anything like that. Anyway there has been an issue with PHP between WordPress and my host which has taken quite a lot of sorting out. I have to say that hosting provider has been really helpful with me giving me lots of advice, which isn’t really part of the service I have with them. The long and short of it is that I now have the site back up and running and I really need to make sure I have a full back up just in case I need it at some point in the future. But I’ve realised that content wise there is a lot to back up and that fact that I’ve been really lazy when it comes to housekeeping so it’s going to take some time. Key will be to back up the really important infrastructure parts first and then worry about the content. It’s just a really good job I don’t run any of my work services the same way I run the site or I would be in real trouble.
Now then sorting all of this out and getting the site back up and running has taken me quite a bit of time so no the hobby front I haven’t actually managed to do that much. I have made a bit of progress with the Atlantis Miniature Ogres but I haven’t yet got them finished. But with the way I have physically set up my workspace I don’t have lots of other things to distract me so they will get finished before I move onto something new. Or to be more accurate before I move something else into my workspace as I do have a couple of other things on the go at the moment. But I promise, as much to myself as to you guys that will not fall back into the shiny, shiny, new thing habit, or at least I won’t for some time. Because I know that even with the best will in the world it will happen again at some point. But for now my focus is going to be on finishing off the Ogres and Dwarves that I have already started and to mix things up a bit I will be doing some work on some Nuts Planet Tiger line minis in both 32mm and 75mm. But I’ll get back to them in a little while. For now, this is the progress I’ve made on the Ogres.
As I mentioned above I have a couple of models from Nuts Planet that I’m quite excited to about getting to work on them. I’ve been a fan the Nuts Planet Tiger line for some time and have one that I’ve been working on for far too long. It’s that larger scale that has slowed me down on this one. But they have now changed things up a bit and have started to do some 32mm versions of their existing range. So I picked up a few of the 32mm versions but before I could get to the end of the checkout process I picked up another 75mm model that they don’t yet do in 32mm. I haven’t started on these yet but will be doing so over the next week or so and I can’t wait. The images on the box look like they are the 3D renders but they look just like the models they have inside. All in all I’m feeling like a lucky chap with these waiting for me.
That’s it for this week and I’m hoping that I don’t break the site again so that you don’t have to wait weeks for the next update. Having said that it’s Christmas next week so I’m not going to make any promises about the next update. I will see how the week pans out and I may have a short update for you. With everything that is going on in the world at the moment, for those of you who celebrate Christmas I hope you have a great time whatever you are doing. And if you don’t celebrate then I have you simply have a great week. So until next time stay safe, have fun and keep on hobbying.
