The Rout. The Executioners of the Emperor. While the rest of the Imperium calls them Space Wolves, those who walk the frozen halls of the Fang know themselves as the Vlka Fenrykas. Savage, untamed, and fiercely loyal, they trade rigid Codex Astartes doctrine for fur cloaks, runic charms, giant axes, and a healthy appreciation for a good feast after a bloody battle.

The Space Wolves have always held a special place on my workbench. Between the grey-blue armor, wet-blending pelt textures, and kitbashing plenty of extra Nordic flair onto standard Marine kits, they are an absolute joy (and sometimes a glorious challenge) to paint.

Fenrisian Wolves

“There are no wolves on Fenris…” or so the legend goes. Whatever the true origins of these colossal apex predators, one thing is for sure: they look fantastic charging across a ruined battlefield alongside a pack of Space Wolves.

Painting fur can be a double-edged sword—it’s either a quick win with drybrushing and Contrast paints, or a deep dive into layering different natural coat tones. I loved working on these beasties; they bring a wonderfully feral energy to the army and make a nice break from painting power armor! Here is a look at the pack so far.

Wolf Scout Kill Team

Unlike typical Codex chapters where Scouts are raw recruits learning the ropes, the Space Wolves do things a bit differently. Wolf Scouts are seasoned, solitary veterans who prefer the quiet thrill of stalking behind enemy lines, picking off key targets before the main assault hits.

This unit was built with skirmish gaming in mind—specifically built and painted for Kill Team. I had a blast customizing each operative with specialized gear, scoped bolters, combat blades, and plenty of Fenrisian trinkets to give every single scout their own distinct personality.
