Weekly Waffle #218

Now that the Adepticon blues are over and I’ve finally finished drooling over the Crystal Brush winners, and if you’ve not seem them I strongly recommend that you have a look. They are truly amazing and I just can’t comprehend how anyone can produce something so fantastic and varied. Any way as I said at the start I’m over it now and I can start looking forward to next year. For me this week everything has been focused on big stompy robots. Although it’s fair to say that I have been working on the smallest of the big stompy robots by continuing to work on the Warhounds. I now have the colour scheme nailed down to being my take on the Alpha Legion turquoise with gold trim and red accents. I’ve also thrown in a bit of yellow and black hatching just to break things up. I did try to do some red and turquoise hatching all with the airbrush but that didn’t really work out, as you can see below.

Luckily there were some extra shin pads in the kit, even if they are strictly speaking chaos ones, but they still work and also helps with the are they aren’t feel I want for the back story of the legion. With the exception of that one failure I’ve been really happy with how the rest of the colour scheme has worked out and I’m hoping it will carry over into the larger machines which have lots more in the way of armour panels. I don’t want to introduce any other colours so I may need to break things up with some decales but I’ll worry about that when I get to them. I’ve still got a way to go with them but overall I’m happy with how thing are progressing.

One thing that is missing at the moment are the bases and that has been because I’ve been waiting for an e-bay delivery. Now I will admit here that may have got the order a bit wrong and underestimated just how large these ruins were. They are the correct scale it’s just that the footprint was larger than I was expecting. It has meant that I can break them up a bit and scatter them across more than one base. What I wanted to do was to try and recreate the feeling I got when I was reading the Dan Abbnet Titanicus book with the Titans fighting on the outskirts of the hab city. I’ll let you be the judge of that once everything is finished.

Next step will be continue to work on the details such as the gold detailing and then all of the other bits and pieces on there. I’ve also got a bag of Titanicus buildings to build and as I’ve been promising to get them done for some time I really need to crack on with them. There are a lot of them so I’m not sure if will get them all done in a week but I’ll see how things go. So that’s it for this week but there will be more for you again next week. Until then have a great week and I hope to see you all again next time.
