Leagues of Votann

The Leagues of Votann are the collective confederations of the species of squat but powerfully-built Abhuman clones who refer to themselves as the “Kin.” They are sometimes pejoratively called “Squats” by the Humans of the Imperium. The Kin are an advanced, starfaring species who possess highly advanced technology and live amid the extreme environments that mark the resource-rich worlds of the galactic core. The Kin share their lives with self-aware, robotic constructs called Ironkin, which they treat as full societal equals in every way.

A kâhl is the title borne by the general officers of the Leagues of Votann who often command their Kindred’s Oathbands and sometimes even entire Kinhosts in battle if they rise to the rank of high kâhl.

Seasoned commanders of the Hearthguard tasked with leading from the front, Einhyr Champions wear modified exo-armour fitted with mass drivers. Combined with their formidable close-quarters weaponry and bulky RAM shields, this hulking war-suit transforms them into living battering rams whose accelerated charge hits hard enough to smash clean through armoured fortress gates.

Well-armoured, well-trained, and equipped with an array of powerful weaponry, Hearthkyn Warriors form the backbone of most Oathbands. Led by their Theyns, these hardy fighters lay down hails of firepower, shrugging off the enemy’s return volleys before storming in to shatter their wavering foes for good.

A Prospectors are a militarised exploratory and prospecting fleet of the Leagues of Votann. These expeditions seek out new strategic mineral and energy deposits, trade routes and other lucrative opportunities for the Kin of their Kindred or league.

Exo-kyn wear armour based on the ancient void suits used by the ancestors of the mining clans. They provide unmatched protection against environmental hazards – something Necromunda has in abundance. While equipped for deep core mining, they are equally adept at turning their drills, claws, and saws against any hostile wildlife or aggressive gangers they might encounter.
